Full description of the position

The Fresh Start Center Associate is responsible for assisting customer and clients in the Fresh Start Center-- the agency's resale shop that supports the mission and programming of Humility Homes & Services, Inc. The mission of the agency is committed to ending homelessness by offering housing opportunities and supportive services in the Greater Quad Cities area.

Qualifications: Education: High School Diploma and/or a GED with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a Sales Associate position. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must have driver’s license and clean driving record. Ability to work independently. Ability to read, write and do basic math. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

Experience: Individual must possess the ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with others and have basic computer skills. Person should be able to understand the concepts of trauma informed care, social work ethics and office etiquette. Individual must also be capable of preserving the confidentiality of employee and participant records.

Responsibilities:

1. Commitment to Ethical and Effective Services

· Know and implement HHSI’s mission, policies, and procedures; and abide by all city, state, and federal laws, and regulations.

· Maintain trainings in suicide risk assessment, mandatory child and dependent adult abuse and neglect reporting, crisis intervention, and civil rights, housing discrimination, harm reduction, trauma informed care and housing first practices.

· Should work to foster strong professional relationships both internally and externally

2. Responsibilities:

· Ensure the Fresh Start Center maintains an atmosphere of professionalism, accountability, and respect for participants, volunteers, donors, and staff.

· Interact with customers, helping and responding to inquiries about products and purchases

· Manage stock, seasonal rotation and special sales stock

· Oversee all logistics and planning for the sales including displays, manage traffic flow, work with key volunteer staff to work through issues from past events

· Operate cash register, square card reader, manage financial transactions and balance drawer

· Provide excellent customer service

· Answer phone calls to direct callers to correct department and or provided needed community resources to callers.

· Assist in providing projects for groups of volunteers in the Fresh Start Center. Work collaboratively with current AARP and volunteers.

· Keep Bulletin Board up to date regarding agency needs and or events in the community.

· Ensure phone resources guide is kept up to date for use by associate and/or volunteers

· Arrange sales floor for agency events and work agency events taking place in Fresh Start Center

· Cleaning, organizing and straightening as needed

· Post online sales through a variety of platforms such as eBay and answer inquiries accordingly

· Manage Fresh Start Center Facebook page

· Drop off overstock to resale partners in the community

· Prepare and post agency mailings

3. Documentation:

· Completes incident reports. Files them in the appropriate locations.

· Communicates via email to the Safety Officer when critical incidents occur.

· Checks and responds to emails, text messages and phone calls from Director of Property Operations and other staff.

4. Other Duties:

· Assists the Corner Closet with order filling, as needed

· Oversee Second Saturday Sales

· Maintain a clean and organized work space

· Ability to ensure protection of the confidentiality of participant in our programs

· Understanding of a computer programs MS word, excel, Paycom and Microsoft 365

· Performs other duties, as needed

Schedule:

Full Time. Schedule is 9am to 4pm Monday through Friday with 1 Saturday a month required of 8am to 12pm. Must be able to work other fundraising events held in the Fresh Start Center throughout the year.

Salary:

Based on qualifications. Travel expenses, and some benefits included health insurance, company IRA match, paid medical leave after 1 year and more.

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
