Job Summary

The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for managing a group of manufacturer's representatives and directly selling the AMP portfolio of products to achieve aggressive bookings and profitability targets for the assigned territory. The individual in this position must have the ability to effectively shepherd $50k to $1m+ equipment deals through the purchasing processes for large multinational organizations and smaller, privately held enterprises. She/he should possess an understanding of customers in the food, beverage, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, and other attractive industrial end markets for material processing applications. The individual must exercise considerable independent technical and commercial judgment over sales projects within an assigned region of the division. The position regularly requires 50% travel for customer presentations, sales support, and service consultation as required.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Grow the sales volume within the assigned region
  • Meet target profitability goals within the assigned region
  • Identify weak market areas and develop target customer lists for those areas
  • Manage the manufacturer's representatives in the assigned region, maintaining regular contact with them and customers regarding proposals, orders, future equipment needs, and arranging sales calls
  • Provide sales, product, and application training to manufacturer's representatives
  • Perform regular analysis and performance evaluation for each manufacturer's representative within the assigned region, and assist in decisions to develop or replace representatives
  • Conduct presentations for manufacturer's representatives and customers including all technical aspects of the project, pricing, payment terms, and shipping schedules
  • Manage key accounts and integrator accounts for growth in the assigned region
  • Assist in recovery of aging receivables within the region
  • Manage performance to goal of manufacturers representatives over multiple key performance indicators, and assist in developing targeted strategies to improve performance as needed
  • Review and negotiate settlement of customer complaints in cooperation with other personnel for aftermarket and warranty issues
  • Develop annual sales plans and expense budgets in assigned region
  • Assist in developing sales promotions and advertising strategy
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
  • Position requires up to 50% travel for customer presentations, sales support, and service consultation as needed

Salary Information

$75 to $100k with aggressive, performance-based bonuses

Required Skills/ Abilities / Traits

  • Basic knowledge of bulk solids material processing
  • Proven sales record, motivated, strong communicator with a positive attitude and presents a professional image
  • Ability to manage large number of manufacturer's representatives
  • Able to develop and measure multiple commercial leading performance indicators to promote sales growth
  • Must be able to make sound business decisions through effective coordination of multiple tasks while maintaining an acceptable level of sales growth
  • The successful candidate will be goal oriented, self-motivated, organized, disciplined, and able to multitask
  • Relationships with others: Exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others, inside and outside of the organization, and works to maintain constructive working relationships

Required Education and Experience

  • Candidates with technical aptitude and strong experience but lesser educational backgrounds will be eligible
  • Preferred candidates possess a college degree in engineering, marketing, or business with experience in processing equipment sales
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Must possess valid motor vehicle operator's license
