Our Loveland, CO office has an Account Manager Technical Sales Engineer opportunity available. This person will be responsible for account management and business development for rotating machinery control and protection systems.
Target markets include commercial electric power generation, refining & petrochemical, pulp & paper, and other related industrial markets. This position sells system design, engineering, and integrated solutions including equipment (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic), software applications, installation and commissioning services, training, and related engineering services. Sales territory is the US Gulf Coast (Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas).
Responsibilities
- Prospect and source new contacts for business, initiate relationships and maintain established relationships with clients and partners.
- Review the regional and industrial markets to determine customer needs and volume potential, applying established prices, schedules, and proposals (by others in the company).
- Research and develop new markets and industries for the company’s products and services. Work with the sales team and key personnel to assess new opportunities and strategic fit for the Business Unit (BU).
- Monitor target industries to develop annual sales plans and forecasts. Meet/exceed those annual sales goals.
- Establish new client accounts and maintain industry contacts leading to increased sales and long‐term repeat business.
- Prospect and acquire leads from a variety of sources including market reports, industry peers and partners, vendors, and other company sales personnel.
- Work with the customer and technical resources within the BU to develop the technical solution, and with the BU proposal team to develop the formal project proposal (bid).
- Present sales and marketing proposals (developed by others) on company engineering services and integrated system solutions along with the BU value proposition to the customer.
- Act as a liaison between customers, BU project management, and engineering with respect to project tasks, schedules, and client issues.
- Review customer orders against the BU proposal, book contracts, and hand off projects to BU operations personnel to ensure customer requirements, schedule, and budget are understood.
- Participate in regional and national trade shows, conferences, and other market events (solo or with larger BU or Company teams).
- When requested or needed, assist with commercial or technical guidance on active projects to ensure overall customer requirements and satisfaction.
- Communicate effectively within all levels of the company and external organizations using strong oral and written communication skills.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
A BSEE, BSCE, or BSME or equivalent engineering/technical degree (AAS), or equivalent track record in similar positions in the rotating machinery industry is preferred. EIT or Professional Registration is a plus, though not required.
Experience:
Successful track record of selling engineering, control system solutions, and/or system integration services to a variety of industries and clients. Basic knowledge of rotating machinery control applications (steam/combustion/hydro turbines, compressors, electrical generators, etc.) along with previous experience as an industry supplier or end-user. Must have established contacts in the region and substantive ideas/plans for market penetration, expansion, and diversification.
Credentials:
Ability to gain access to industrial sites that may include drug, alcohol, and background screening. Possess or ability to acquire a US Department of Homeland Security TWIC card. Clean driving record and valid driver’s license.
Management Skills
Manage Project Opportunities:
Work the territory to determine potential opportunities and coordinate/communicate with the BU using Salesforce to record and track opportunities.
Strategic Planning Skills:
Understand and foresee regional market conditions and the strategic direction the business should be prepared to follow. This includes mapping the regional business strategy and guiding/assisting the BU for success in the region.
Physical Demands of Position
Clear eyesight, hearing, and speech. Clean driving record. Ability to travel to/within the region up to 50% (occasionally more).
Working Environment
Standard office environment including frequent use of a personal computer, multifunction printers, miscellaneous office equipment, and typical software and internet usage. Experience with Salesforce is a plus, though not required. The position may be based within the region (work from home), or out of the BU location in Loveland, CO. Significant automobile/air travel throughout the region.
