ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND CLIENT RELATIONS, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL)-Global Strategic Alliances Department (Alliances), to join CSAIL Alliances, its main interface with industry, organizations, start-ups, and the public. Will have both management and individual contributor responsibilities. CSAIL Alliances operates nine programs and several key high-profile conferences. This role will focus on business development, managing engagement of a select portfolio of companies and programs, general corporate engagement, team management, and departmental functions.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; at least five years’ experience with client relations and strategic partnerships, five years’ management experience, and experience managing team managers; excellent program management, organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, analytical, financial, interpersonal, relationship management, client service, leadership, team-building, supervisory, and written and oral communication skills; comfort with and desire to bring an all-hands-on-deck approach to a fast-growing, dynamic, start-up environment; experience creating new programs, activities, and services to support larger strategic goals; familiarity with the academic/industry collaborations; diplomacy, good judgment, tact, and discretion in all communications; self-motivation and initiative; high-level proficiency with computers and spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, and graphic design applications; and discretion and judgment with confidential information/issues. Seek someone who is able to keep teams, projects, and deliverables on track; work effectively across all levels of higher education, government, and industry; engage senior executives; understand, communicate, create, and present complex technical information to a range of audiences; work strategically, set priorities, and coordinate multiple tasks; exert influence, negotiate, and work across boundaries; develop and manage staff performance and build a cohesive and collaborative team; and work under pressure with minimum supervision.
