Job Overview
Environmental Design Group is seeking a strong business development professional with a technical background to plan, lead, and grow our business in the central Ohio region. Service offerings include water resources; green and blue infrastructure; transportation; site development; parks; construction management; surveying; community planning; campgrounds; and environmental and ecological services.
The Regional Market Director will be responsible for establishing and fostering long-term relationships in the region with existing and prospective clients. This position will assist project managers, business unit directors, principals, and the executive team in building and elevating Environmental Design Group’s brand. They will act as the primary liaison for communication for client acquisition strategies between the central Ohio region and other office locations.
As a Regional Market Director at Environmental Design Group, you will:
· Leverage existing client relationships and establish and foster new client relationships in the City of Columbus and throughout the Central Ohio Region;
· Build and elevate the Environmental Design Group brand across all Service Groups in the organization;
· Support and influence the implementation of the service groups’ business plans;
· Lead and prepare proposals/contracts, and assist the project team with determining project requirements, budget, deliverables, and scope based on client dialogue and project understanding;
· Understand the clients’ organizational structure, political fabric, and needs, aligning our services to achieve our client’s goals while maximizing revenue. Engage appropriate PMs, other directors, and technical team/associate members that are client-facing;
· Work with Project Managers to ensure that assigned projects meet client’s schedule, needs, business objectives, and project goals;
· Evaluate market trends to sustain and grow the region;
· Promote organizational mission, vision, values, and strategies company-wide;
· Work with the technical team to identify project risks, triggers, and mitigation steps; and communicate those to the client for buy-in. Follow up with PM throughout the project to monitor identified triggers and project status and communicate any changes to the client;
· Author and implement business development strategies, including client relationship development, client pursuits, new introductions, and revenue procurement for the Region;
· Attend networking events, trade shows, and technical conferences for business development purposes;
· Mentor employees and act as a leader within the organization;
· Ensure effective and timely communications on pursuits and capture strategies between the Central Ohio region and other company locations;
· Carry out any other responsibilities as assigned for the organization’s best interest;
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of Business Development experience, regional leadership, leadership experience, or a combination thereof to meet the minimum requirement;
- Professional Engineer Licensure (PE) preferred;
- Advanced ability to drive business, seek new opportunities, and close deals;
- Must be able to form strong relationships with new contacts, network, and maintain relationships over long durations;
- Ability to lead and inspire teams effectively;
- Advanced communication and interpersonal skills;
- Analytical and creative thinking;
- Must enjoy working in social situations and being part of a team;
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Occasional evening work may be required as job duties demand. A hybrid option is available for this position.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and possess a driving record that will enable the employee to be insurable under the Company’s standard vehicle insurance and general comprehensive liability insurance without additional costs to the Company.
Supervisor Responsibility
This position will not have direct reports but will be expected to represent themselves as a leader of the organization and have the ability to inspire the team.

Pay: From $130,000.00 per year
