Position Summary
The Life Sciences Application Project Manager (APM) group works with sales, marketing, manufacturing, engineering, and service to help secure orders, manage post order activities and provide technical support and training to internal and external Customers. The team interacts with architects, engineering firms and planners to assist getting STERIS equipment specified on projects. APM’s are technical experts and work with STERIS capital equipment solutions that service the pharmaceutical process and lab research Life Sciences market.
This is a remote based customer facing position. To support and service our customers in this assigned territory candidates must be based out of USA.
Duties
Manage Pre-Order Process to Expand Project Order and Sales Revenues
- Identifies and coordinates with sales all Customer project leads.
- Identifies customer needs. Provides consultative services on product applications, planning requirements, productivity analysis, capabilities, and benefits.
- Propose project strategies and assist Sales with pricing.
- Develops equipment options, exceptions and clarifications and special sales quotes (SSQ)
- Works closely with architects, engineering firms and planners
Project Management Post Order
- Ensures that planning, engineering, manufacturing, and shipment is achieved according to specifications and purchase order. Reviews order worksheet (OWS) to ensure they match customer specifications.
- Manages project to ensure project profitability is maximized and margin erosion is minimized.
Develop Professional Community Relationships / Provide Field Intelligence
- Grows the STERIS business through Customer networking, trade shows and professional Organizations.
- Conducts classes and training seminars, educating the professional community and Customers

Coaching Account Managers
- Educates/trains Account Managers on Life Sciences products and technical sales tools.
- Provide coaching to Account Managers to improve their knowledge and skills.
Marketing/Field Intelligence and Strategic Initiatives:
- Provides feedback to strategic and product marketing on new product launches based on Customer input
- Provides feedback to strategic and product marketing on future potential product offerings, opportunities, or improvements.
- Provides technical input to enhance STERIS technologies and product offering, in order to improve our Customer services and field communications.
- Provides feedback on manufacturing, quality, documentation, and engineering issues.
Administrative Management:
- Adopts and provides input to new continuous improvement methods.
- Maintains required technical proficiency through the attendance at scheduled training sessions throughout STERIS’s global network of facilities.
- Provides monthly reports on projects, product, and industry trends.
Education Degree
Required Experience
- 1-2 years proven industry experience in working with capital equipment applications in Life Sciences Industry or 3-5 years technical application engineering experience with capital equipment.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (Engineering or Technical discipline preferred)
- MBA and/or P.E. Certification a plus
- Strong communication and presentation skills with Customers
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, CAD/Voloview)
- Project Management – Pre and post order management of multiple capital equipment projects to profitable completion
- Techincal Knowledge – Understands basic engineering practices and has technical expertise with ability to train others on STERIS Capital Equipment Solutions.
- Team Orientation- Builds constructive and effective relationships cross-functionally internally and externally, and maintains them over time.
- Communication – Communicates effectively and efficiently with internal and external Customers. Provides effective written and oral communication in large and small groups. Listens and flexes style based on specific situations.
Pay range for this opportunity is $77,800.00 - $104,727.00. This position is eligible for bonus participation.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.

Part-time employees working 20 or more hours receive a pro-ration of the full-time PTO allocation and paid Holidays based on their standard hourly work week. Full-Time employees are eligible for four weeks of paid parental leave. Part-time employees also receive paid parental leave, pro-rated based on their standard hourly work week.
Our Healthcare Customers are federally mandated (by Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services or CMS) requiring vendors to have the COVID-19 vaccination or an approved exemption. There are select Customers who do not accept any exceptions. Unvaccinated Associates may be excluded from working at a Customer site, require routine testing with an approved exemption (if accepted by the Customer) or have limited Customer access impacting their ability to remain employed.
