POSITION SUMMARY
The essential functions of this position are Warehouse Management, Transportation / Logistics, and Inside Sales. Responsibilities include managing the warehouse and shipment of products to customers to ensure delivery schedules are met and the proper products are shipped. Receiving products from vendors, verifying incoming orders are correct, receiving the shipment into inventory, and maintaining records of inventory and their bin location. Making sales calls to current and new customers. The Assistant DCM assumes all management responsibilities of the Distribution Center (DC) when the Distribution Center Manager (DCM) is out of the office.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Warehouse Management
  • Motivate and encourage teamwork to ensure set productivity targets are met
  • Conduct a daily safety walk-through to ensure that the warehouse is organized, clean, and safe
  • Enforce company policies of conduct and safety, and initiate disciplinary action as needed
  • Conduct monthly safety meetings and quarterly driver safety meetings
  • Utilize Warehouse Management System (WMS) for inventory accuracy; conduct daily cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory counts
  • Implement and maintain bin location system to aid in storage and picking of goods
  • Identify the causes of product losses and take corrective action as needed
  • Assist warehouse employees in loading and unloading trucks utilizing forklifts and other Powered Industrial Equipment
  • Control costs through productivity of personnel, efficient utilization of storage space and proper protection of stored materials
  • Properly utilizes docks, warehouse layout and route truck loading patterns to minimize loading time
Transportation / Logistics
  • Must be able to make deliveries when needed
  • Create organized and efficient loads for delivery that maximize route productivity and are within the guidelines of the Federal DOT. Schedule routes for trucks and contract drivers using a Transportation Management System (TMS)
  • Maintains the planned maintenance of vehicles and equipment to ensure they are running properly and up to safety standards of OSHA and the Federal DOT
Inside Sales
  • Acts as a key point of contact for various customer facing activities such as sales quoting, managing orders and order confirmations
  • Ability to be a hunter and build relationships with new and existing customers
  • Develop deep product knowledge to assist and educate customers
  • Fill Out Trucks Sell the whole package accessories
  • Educate and advise customers of current market trends, changes and challenges become a trusted advisor
  • Acquire knowledge of the market conditions and competitive landscape; use this knowledge and customer relationships in dealing with competitive situations and negotiations.
  • Sell at the highest possible price
  • Prepare & submit weekly Pulse Reports that describe and track sales activities
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Solid knowledge and proven history of implementing OSHA and Federal DOT regulations
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage employees
  • Inventory management experience; WMS system experience a plus
  • Experience with scheduling, planning, and logistics; TMS experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
REQUIREMENTS
  • 3+ years building materials and/or distribution warehouse management experience
  • 2+ years inside sales experience; calls made to new and existing customers
  • Powered Industrial Equipment/Forklift experience
  • Must be able to meet Company requirements on a drug test and background check
  • Must have a valid drivers license with an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR)
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a non-CDL driver qualification file (including a valid medical card)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Regularly lift, push, and/or pull objects that weigh 10-50lbs; occasionally lift, push, and/or pull objects that weigh more than 100 lbs
  • Frequently exposed to non-climate controlled conditions in the warehouse
  • Frequently required to sit at a desk facing a computer screen
  • Constant demands of focusing for extended periods, making decisions, reading and comprehending, and communicating orally and in writing
  • Constant demands of being mentally alert, exhibiting visual sharpness, and accurate hearing
