Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Influence
- Conducts long-term and short-term strategic goal setting for teams and uses data to measure and monitor sales processes, identify issues, develop key partnership initiatives, and category/channel programs to accurately forecast sales volume, revenue, and expenses and enhance overall profit performance.
- Evaluates and implements appropriate new sales techniques to increase the regions sales performance against organizational objectives.
- Participates in the development of strategies to meet or exceed sales goals and achieve KPIs; is accountable for the successful execution of those strategies.
- Develops/Executes Direct Store Delivery strategies and ensures activation of priorities for driving efficiencies across assigned geographies.
- Maintains and utilizes up-to-date knowledge about the markets served, customers, vendors, and competitors to drive successful operations.
- Shares and collaborates on sales execution vision and strategic thinking to anticipate future needs and recommend business building ideas that will drive the business toward strategic goals.
- Develops relationships with all key decision makers, both internal and external.
- Keeps abreast of competitive activities within the responsible geographies and communicates appropriate activity in a timely manner.
- Attends and networks at trade association meetings to promote product and company.
- Collaborates with cross-functional departments within the organization to deliver mutually beneficial results that support overall company goals
- Responsible for building, developing, and retaining talent necessary to drive a high-performance sales team, along with ensuring succession planning is in place.
- Participates in daily activities of staff.
- Manages and directs a sales force to achieve sales and profit goals within the assigned region.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
- Directs sales forecasting activities and reviews/analyzes sales data to set performance goals and promote sales.
- Prepares sales reports showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion.
- Ongoing assessment of Sales Managers location business plans including attainment of goals, success of key initiatives, major actions, key support needed, and recommendations to create efficiency and productivity.
- Analyzes and controls expenditures to manage P&L responsibilities.
- May be requested to perform different or additional duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors degree in related field from four-year university preferred.
- 10 years of management or supervisory experience in a sales environment.
- Experience with Community Coffee, even if unrelated, may fulfill this requirement at the
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Valid Drivers license: a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) required for vehicles 26,000 lbs or greater.
- Acceptable driving record
- DOT medical certification
- COVID vaccination
- Successful completion of pre-employment physical
- Knowledge of Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and handheld point-of-sale computer systems preferred
- Strong organization skills
- Strong oral and written communication.
- Effective at delivering data/fact-based, persuasive story telling
- Leadership
- Knowledge of the coffee service and retail industries (e.g., retailers, competitors, trends, merchandising materials, equipment, general business environment) related to multiple channels of distribution.
- Knowledge of and ability to gather, interpret and apply multiple consumer/industry insights and trends used in the development of channel strategies and programs.
- Knowledge of syndicated sources (e.g., AC Nielsen, IRI, etc) used in the analysis of trending market, customer, consumer and dollar/volume dynamics.
- Ability to actively engage, listen, and empathize in order to effectively collaborate with breadth of stakeholders.
- Elevated EQ/Diplomacy to enable navigation of broad system of internal and external stakeholders
