The Semiconductor Business Unit provides solutions for our customers in pathfinding, yield learning, and failure analysis of semiconductor processes and manufacturing. Our broad range of high-performance microscopy workflows provide critical data at the micro-, nano-, and picometer scales. Combining hardware and software expertise in electron, ion, and light microscopy with deep application knowledge in semiconductor and related markets, the team is dedicated to the pursuit of discovery. As a member of this team you will work with companies on the forefront of semiconductor innovation as they develop and characterize the processes that will lead to the technologies of tomorrow.
The Mission
The Semiconductor Field Applications Team provides technical expertise to companies developing groundbreaking products and processes using our innovative technology. The Applications team works at the intersection of the product team, the account team, and the customer to grow our business and ensure the success of our customers.
Key responsibilities are:
- Support for new product introductions at customer sites, working with customer engineers to integrate our technology into their workflows in the lab and fab for failure analysis, characterization, and metrology.
- Application development and training to ensure that users can extract the full value of our technology and achieve the best possible results
- Collaborative development of new processes and applications as customer technologies and requirements evolve
How you will make an impact
The EFA Field Applications Engineer is responsible for making our customers successful in addressing product failure through the employment of Fault Isolation applications on our optical-based Meridian, thermal-based ELITE, and circuit edit Centrios platforms. If you enjoy solving technical problems, working closely with customers and travel then this is the position for you! You will partner with our customers and internal teams of product development, marketing and sales in order to achieve success
Location: This position can be located anywhere in the upper 48 U.S. as this is a REMOTE role. The preferred locations are: Fremont (Bay Area), CA; Phoenix AZ, Hillsboro OR, Austin or Dallas, TX.
What you will do
- Develop/implement new applications & workflow to address semiconductor failures
- Conduct/coordinate customer demos, on-site evaluations, installations and training
- Understand and further develop customer requirements and system/application improvements, and feedback to marketing and product development teams
- Support sales activity by being the technical partner and application specialist
- Publish application notes and technical papers; may present at technical conferences
- Support customers in North America Region

This position is ideal for a creative and dynamic technologist with a focus on innovation and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:
Required:
- Proven track record to plan, prioritize and problem solving
- Clear interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, with a diverse audience is essential
- Be mechanically adept and hands on in operating instrument
- Capable of working on a global level with internal colleagues and external customers
5+ years Proven track record for semiconductor physics and microelectronics, optics, laser and optical microscope, SEM based systems
- Minimum of a BA degree in Physical Science, Engineering, or related field
- Be able to travel domestically and occasionally abroad up to 50%
Preferred:
- Experience in microelectronics Failure Analysis and microelectronics Test
- Experience in microelectronics Circuit Edit
- MS/PhD degrees in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Semiconductor related field
