Summary of Position:
The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) will carry out the strategic vision of the company and is accountable for the achievement of all sales objectives as an aggregate of their teams individual goals, through intense focus, training, and coaching to the defined selling processes and expectations.
The RSM manages all aspects of running an effective sales team, including hiring, supervising, coaching, disciplining, and motivating direct-report sales associates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Prioritizes coaching, training, and performance management efforts to have the greatest overall positive impact on business results.
- Coordinates the involvement of sales support personnel, including customer service, insides sales and management resources, so that team performance objectives and customers' expectations are met.
- Proactively evaluates sales activity, with focus on processes defined, and effort among sales associates managed, ensuring that the quality and quantity of sales effort meets company expectations.
- Identifies opportunities in skills among sales associates managed, and works to improve individuals' capabilities through coaching, development, and training.
- Recruits, hires, and develops associates, utilizing company human resources guidelines and support resources.
- Works with the Leadership Team to ensure market-level strategic and business objectives are met by the sales team.
- Directs and supports the consistent implementation of company initiatives.
- Positively impacts the performance of individual sales team members by implementing and managing field support tools, including training programs, productivity initiatives, account and territory planning methodologies, and customer communication tools.
- Leads field forecasting efforts among the team managed, ensuring that accurate forecasts are completed on a timely basis
- Proactively assesses, clarifies, and validates customer requirements and satisfaction by engaging key customer accounts in conjunction with sales personnel managed. Provides a management-level point of contact for key customers. Builds and maintains strong customer relationships.
- Builds peer support and strong intra-company relationships.
- Establishes productive relationship with field merchandising based on frequent communication, collaboration.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or five or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated territory management experience
- At least 5 years' experience in a leadership role, with proficiency in identifying staff training, development, and coaching needs
- Strong organizational, critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Excellent work ethic and dedication to completing the job
- Demonstrated success building strong business relationships with customers
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience working in wholesale, grocery, tobacco, food service, or other related industry preferred
Additional requirements:
- Home office capability is required with reliable high speed internet access
- Ability to travel in field
- Valid driver's license along with good driving record
- Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
