Structure
The Associate Director of Development, National Team is an exempt (salaried) position employed by the University of Cincinnati Foundation and reports to the Senior Director of Development on the National Team.
Focus
The Associate Director of Development is responsible for raising money and directing fundraising activities for the benefit of the National Team at the UC Foundation. The Associate Director will closely coordinate activities with appropriate Colleges and UCF Staff.
Specific Duties
- Build and actively manage a portfolio of approximately 75 emerging mid-level and major gift prospects, with the primary focus on soliciting gifts of $50,000 and above.
- Make discovery, cultivation, and solicitation visits to alumni, friends, and businesses in various areas outside the Cincinnati region.
- Solicit and close contributions to meet both annual and campaign goals for the National Team.
- Utilize UCF fundraising specialists (gift planning, corporate relations, foundation relations, donor relations, etc.) for the benefit of the Colleges and the University.
- Collaborate with college-based staff, as well as other central teams staff, on development work.
- Work with other National Team members on identifying major philanthropic themes in regions outside of Cincinnati and help build strategies around those themes
- Travel approximately 50% of the time to various regions of the country to support development efforts.
- Prepare timely contact reports and ensure the accuracy of monthly reports.
- Participate fully in the UCF prospect and clearance process.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 3–5 years of progressively responsible major gift fundraising experience, or advanced degree with 2–3 years of experience.
- Record of successful emerging mid-level and major gift solicitation and closure ($50,000 level and above)
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to interact favorably with a diverse group of individuals and to foster strong, productive relationships.
- Willingness to travel and attend evening and weekend activities as needed. Valid driver’s license required for travel.
- A commitment to and passion for the role of development in advancing the mission of the University of Cincinnati.
Physical Demands
This position is considered to have light work. Exerting up to 20lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up a negligible of force constantly to move objects. This position requires the operation of a motor vehicle. This position also requires:
