Position Summary:
The Regional Sales Manager is a key position within the VPP and C&I Project Team. Responsible for cultivating new leads, managing a pipeline of potential customers, and moving customer through the selling process, culminating in a decision to purchase (i.e., purchase order). The Regional Sales Manager is a project selling expert and possesses the technical knowledge to answer project specific questions and create content-rich collateral to aid the selling process. Supported by program engineers, project managers, VPP innovation, and sonnen assets in general, the Regional Sales Manager is the face of the project team for both VPP and C&I project businesses. Actively seeking new leads, working with the Channel Sales team, and utilizing the lead generation tools of the company, this position will lead the sales efforts for the VPP C&I Project Team and help shape the company’s future business. Project selling, highly organized nature, ability to manage multiple customers and partners in various selling stages and properly matrix time to be successful on many tasks on a given day are skills this person should possess. This position will require 50% to 70% travel and can either be remote or based at our Atlanta, GA, U.S. Headquarters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and close sales deals to meet sales quotas in accordance with the company’s goals and objectives.
- Manage multiple lead generation tools as well as proactive sales calls to drive new business opportunities and support the company and division sales goals
- Assist with forecast of revenue on a regular basis and review sales results to ensure that established targets are being met and take corrective action where required.
- Develop and maintain key documentation and processes as they relate to selling and customer management duties
- Maintain communication with potential VPP C&I customers, answering questions in a professionally timely manner, providing proactive follow-up, and utilizing team resources to provide an exemplary client experience
- Provide high-quality sales presentations and perform sales calls independently or, as needed, with support from the executive team
- Translate highly technical concepts into easy-to-understand messaging for potential clients
- Originate and lead sales related meetings with internal and external resources to achieve sales goals
- Identify and convert new accounts while maintaining existing relationships.
- Recognize objections, roadblocks and buying signals from customer and direct support resources necessary to gain commitments (e.g., PO’s)
- Collaborate with executive-level leadership on opportunities, providing executive summaries, engaging senior sales colleagues, and escalating partnerships as required to achieve commitments
- Utilize CRM software and other designated tools to document relevant communication and to ensure proper data capture, selling stage tracking, and opportunity-specific activities
- Collaborate with the VPP team and foster a “yes, and” mentality
- Other duties as assigned to ensure high-quality, proactive, client-focused solutions
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, sales, psychology, or related field
- 2-5 years of project sales experience within solar, electronics, or technology industries
- Proven track record for identifying, negotiating, converting, and closing complex client deals (i.e., large-dollar amount)
- Proven and solid track record in over-achievement
- Experience selling, managing clients, and delivering excellent service to clients
- Verifiable record of successfully closing deals and growing market share
- Highly organized with the ability to integrate schedules and requests from multiple sources
- Ability to organize and disseminate technical data to non-technical audiences
- Creativity, flexibility, curiosity, and a desire to excel
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
