Full description of the position

Retail Sales Associate

PURPOSE: To process the sales of Girl Scout merchandise while meeting the needs of girls, adult members, employed staff and visitors. To ensure the satisfaction of each customer while preserving the Girl Scout Mission.

Looking to hire (2) Full Time employees based at the Tampa Leadership Center.
Hours (August-June) are Tuesday-Saturday Tuesday – Friday 9 am – 6 pm and every Saturday from 8:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.,
Summer hours (June-August) are Monday-Friday from 9-6 pm.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Open/close retail store during advertised store hours for brick and mortar shop located at the Girl Scout Leadership Center in Tampa Florida and mobile locations including GSWCF camps
  • Rings sales of Girl Scout merchandise on cash register.
  • Processes cash, checks, or credit transactions; issues receipts, refunds, credits, or exchanges and keeps money secure at all times.
  • Provides high quality services to all internal and external customers (employed staff, Girl Scout members, etc.) by portraying a positive image of Girl Scouting.
  • Educates customers on the Girl Scout Program Portfolio and its complimentary merchandise and the correct usage of uniform and insignia.
  • Selects and shows merchandise to store customers; demonstrates and/or describes use; assists customer in selection of merchandise.
  • Creative skills in merchandising of goods (sales approach, promotion of merchandise, etc.).
  • Keeps the store inviting, full of product and clean by ensuring that stock levels are maintained neat and in an attractive manner in the merchandise units and assists with the day-to-day housekeeping maintenance of the Store.
  • Monitors and informs the Director of Retail Operations of status of merchandise/inventory levels.
  • Receives, counts, prices and stocks inventory using packing list supplied by vendors in a timely manner and sends documentation to the Director of Retail Operations so that inventory can be added to POS System and invoices can be processed.
  • Performs detailed inventory counts for assigned merchandise; classifies and assists with seasonal and annual inventories.
  • Conveys customer suggestions, insight and/or concerns to Director of Retail Operations.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekend based on customer needs and be available for special events including coordinating and facilitating mobile stores, as needed.
  • Prepares daily sales reports and provides back-up documentation to the Director of Retail Operations and makes weekly bank deposits.
  • Process and fill ecommerce orders
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bondable
  • Retail and cash-handling experience
  • Mathematical ability and general accounting comprehension
  • Knowledge of the Girl Scout Program Portfolio is preferred
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers and co-workers
  • Dependable, prompt, courteous and trustworthy
  • Good oral and written communication and human relations skills.
  • Ability to accept additional tasks, duties, training, and/or direction from management
  • Computer savvy and have the ability to operate a cash register and 10 key calculator
  • Ability to organize data and compile sales reports
  • Demonstrated ability to use computer software, such as Word, Excel, etc. preferred
  • Ability to constantly stand, bend, and reach
  • Have reliable transportation and evidence of a clear driving record and proof of insurance
  • Ability to lift 40-50 pounds
  • Available to work a flexible part-time schedule including some nights and weekends.
  • Knowledge and acceptance of beliefs and principles of the Girl Scout movement; willing to register as a member of Girl Scouts of the USA
