Full description of the position

Summary

Under limited supervision, a Key Account Manager IV retains and strengthens client relationships through medium to long-term planning and face-to-face selling of products, services and solutions across multiple lines of business for a group of strategic clients. Responsibilities include preparing strategies to protect, grow, and diversify the relationship with a defined group of existing customers, identifying cross/up and repeat sales opportunities, resolving problems and ensuring customers receive high quality customer service, developing client retention and growth plans and strategies for developing profitable business with assigned accounts, reviewing and reporting on customer retention, business opportunity and market trends. Incumbents are typically compensated based on achievement of sales targets. As a senior specialist, the incumbent is a recognized subject matter expert in job area. Responsibilities typically include managing large projects or processes with broad oversight, and coaching, reviewing and delegating work to lower-level professionals. Problems faced are difficult and often complex.

Major Accountability

  • Work with assigned accounts reviewing and reporting customer retention, business opportunities and market trends.
  • Sell directly or through channel partners to assigned customers to provide customized service.
  • Ensures company policies, practices and procedures are adhered to consistently and equitably.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Maintains and increases sales by cultivating client relationships and meeting their operational needs.
  • Resolves client issues, researches problems, and makes recommendations for potential product enhancements or modifications.
  • Explores various marketing channels to improve sales performance.
  • Assists in the preparation of sales forecasts, quotes or negotiations.
  • Duties may include developing medium to long-range sales plans and assisting with strategies to protect, diversify the relationship.
  • Identifies and manages interactions with a group of existing strategic customers to identify repeat sales opportunities, resolving problems and ensuring customers receive high quality customer service, developing client retention.
  • Research problems and makes recommendations for potential product enhancements or modifications.
  • Coaches and reviews work of less experienced staff.
