Full description of the position

We are searching for a Director of New Business Development to join our Marketing Team and help grow the DAP brand! In this integral and visible role, you’ll connect strategy with consumers, contractors, and channels in support of both core and new market development areas. The responsibilities of this position include:

Responsibilities:

  • Establish an innovative and strategic roadmap to support new product and brand introductions outside of DAP’s core business units.
  • Develop comprehensive business growth plan utilizing various market entry strategies; organic, sourced, licensing and acquisition.
  • Implement comprehensive research studies to identify and confirm growth strategies.
  • Scout, evaluate, and negotiate with new business partners.
  • Lead and develop relationships within the RPM International Global Organization for cross-product and strategic opportunities.
  • Conduct early-stage assessments, ideation and concept development for a new product or brand opportunities from ideation to market launch.
  • Driving new product development activities through Stage-Gate product management and market research
  • Manage competitive benchmarking.
  • Ensuring profitability within the assigned market segments, including supporting the product commercialization process
  • Develop assigned portions of the annual Marketing Plan, Operating Plan and Growth & Strategy presentation.
  • Presentations to corporate leadership, internal teams and key strategic retail and professional accounts
  • Lead, manage and develop a team of direct and indirect reports and support cross-functional teams.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or business Management
  • At least 10+ years product management experience
  • Consumer Packaged Goods and/or Hardware & Home Improvement industry experience
  • Understanding building codes, design specifications, and industry certifications for recognized approvals in trades served or targeted for expansion.
  • Experience developing new consumer products and business platforms for market including definition of concepts, positioning, features, benefits, and pricing.
  • Ability to understand consumer needs and market research and translate these into successful new product offerings and product improvements.
  • Ability to utilize data and analytics to make informed business decisions.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple product launch cycles, from idea generation to product delivery.
  • Ability to act independently in the supervision, training and evaluation of assigned personnel.
  • Significant record of consistent accomplishment and outstanding results
  • Profit & loss management
  • Ability to juggle, structure and lead complex projects, monitor progress against key milestones and deliver on time and on budget.
  • Ability to develop and structure consumer communication that resonates with target audience.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and ERP Systems (SAP, Business Objects, etc.)
  • Cross functional leadership and team work. Self-confident, verbalizes problem solving skills, demonstrates initiative, manages and motivates team.
  • Estimated travel 20-30% (local, regional and national) associated with this position.
