We are currently seeking a self-starting, goal oriented, and successful sales professional to fill the role of Business Development Specialist in our Louisville, KY region. As a Business Development Specialist, your objective is to clearly express ideas in a manner that will build rapport with our current and new customers. The ideal candidate will not let the market dictate their opportunities; rather, they will proactively build a pipeline of project opportunities that provide for new customer relationships and assist in managing existing key customer partnerships for long-term business growth and success.

What You Will Do:

Develop new business accounts and expand existing customer relationships to secure major construction contracts.

  • Utilizes strategic account planning and sale pipeline management tools
  • Follows a proven sales process that includes prospecting, qualifying, targeting, identifying customer needs, developing value propositions, presenting solutions and alternatives, and closing the sale for future construction project opportunities
  • Works collaboratively with regional operations team to create and implement strategic plans to generate business opportunities, which result in achieved revenue objectives for the Raleigh region
  • Continuously grow and develop your skills to lead project teams in selling high-end conceptual services to executive-level managers and buyers of large corporations and agencies
  • Maintains knowledge of marketplace issues, industry trends, competitive information, customer expectations, public policy and other market drivers
  • Makes decisions based on Messer's long-term growth philosophy and core values
  • Participates in industry and community organizations

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, construction or related field
  • 1-3 years of business development / sales experience preferred
  • Knowledge/experience in a construction-related industry is preferred
  • Business and community relationships in the Raleigh area
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams in order to complete a sale
  • Ability to quickly establish relationships with executive-level managers and buyers of large corporations and agencies based on credibility, value, and trust
  • Formal sales training and experience with client management software is a plus
  • Knowledge and use of behavior-based tools such as Social Style or DISC is a plus
  • Knowledge of the Aviation, Health Care, Higher Education, Industrial, and Science and Technology markets is a plus
  • Overnight travel to conferences and meetings as needed
  • Valid driver’s license
