Full description of the position
POSITION SUMMARY: Determine customer needs, sales volume potential, and pricing schedules that will meet company goals. To provide efficient and courteous assistance to the Direct Sales of the Hotel. Assure the overall success of the hotel by meeting or exceeding the guest’s expectations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES:
Direct Selling:
Qualifies leads and prospect gained from cold calls, newspapers, internet, referrals, sales blitzes, national sales offices, convention and visitors bureaus, and other sources.- Qualifies business from in-house sources by meeting with guests at social hour, breakfast, reviewing in-house guests lists, working with the front desk to gain information etc.
- Follows up on all sales leads, including meeting room bookings.
- The Sales Manager is an active part of the community through Chamber of Commerce meetings, networking functions, local organizations etc.
- The Sales Manager is responsible for 25 outside calls per week – cold calls and appointment calls.
- Documents weekly activities through a weekly sales report.
Account Maintenance:
- Establishes and maintains close contact with hotel accounts and target accounts through phone calls, emails, tours, appointments, correspondence and entertainment.
- Asses the current and future needs of the accounts, whole prospecting to uncover other decision makers within the account.
- Communicates and coordinates with other hotel departments all sales information necessary for professional execution of commitments.
- Maintains accurate sales files, contracts, and trace system for all accounts.
Revenue Management
- Uncover target areas for maximizing revenue through the revenue management system.
- Utilize the suggested revenue management restrictions for high occupancy dates to maximize revenue.
- The Sales Manager will be knowledgeable of the hotels’ budget, and how the hotel is performing daily, month to date, and year to date.
- Continually monitor and control department expenditures.
Inventory Maintenance
- Manage inventory daily- looking over arrival lists, room type inventory, and inventory reports.
- Manage inventory for all special events and city wide conventions, utilizing revenue management strategies.
- Manage all groups at the hotel from the booking process until check out. Weekly check the group inventory, pick ups, cut off dates, etc.
- Ensure that all Local Negotiated Rates and National Accounts are loaded into the property management system properly, to ensure booking.
Customer Service/Guest Relations
- Works the evening Managers Reception a minimum of 1 time per week to gain leads, and mingle with guests.
- Solicits guest feedback and alerts General Manager with all opportunities for hotel improvement.
- Accepts responsibility as a manger of the hotel, providing guidance to employees and guests when needed.
- Assists General Manager in resolving service concerns.
- Contributes to a positive, enthusiastic work environment.
