SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

Responsible for representing the co-op to the customers in the field. Builds relationships in order to determine customer’s needs and make recommendations on co-op products and services to meet those needs. Also, provides services at the store as needed. Calls on customers, makes farm visits, sells products and services, makes recommendations for chemicals, fertilizer, feed, seed, etc. Secures financing from every customer for products/services purchased.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Excellent customer service skills
• Advises customers on all aspects of their farming needs
• Takes soil samples and reviews the analysis in order to make product recommendations
• Sells products and services to and secures financing from every customer
• Develops customer sales programs for the store
• Communicates with management on market conditions
• Increase market share with increased sales and customer count
• Makes deliveries for the store
• Works at the store when needed
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment
• Prompt and regular attendance is essential
• Some overtime may be required.

QUALFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience

1. 4-year degree recommended, experience in agriculture sales would be considered

2. 3-5 years’ experience in a related field

Certificates and/or License

Valid driver’s license is required

Work Environment:

The job is performed both indoors, outdoors and in the field. Some activities may include extended periods of driving, standing, sitting and/or extensive work at a computer monitor.

Work environment also includes but is not limited to exposure to weather, extreme cold/heat, noise, dust, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts and to electrical sources. Required PPE includes foot protection, eye protection, head protection, safety vest or highly reflective clothing, and hearing protection (only in areas where required).

Walking, standing, sitting, hearing, seeing (up close and far away), depth perception, talking, hand, finger and arm movement, repetitive motions, regularly lift 50 pounds, occasionally lift up to 70 pounds, pulling, pushing, kneeling, grasping, reaching, climbing, crawling, stooping and crouching.
