What you'll be doing
As part of the Relationship Management team, you will be a primary day-to-day contact in IRE for most clients with active loan accounts and loan requests in due diligence. You will manage relationships and handling negotiations with multiple parties during the transaction cycle, including in-house team members (originators, senior leaders, Credit Risk Management), borrowers and their team members, co-lenders and subordinate lender, consultants and third-party vendors.

How you’ll succeed
- Marketing of additional CIBC products and services to clients including deposit products, treasury management services, and rate products
- Responsible for due diligence for and underwriting of loan transactions from $10MM to $200MM. Required tasks include review of leases, financial and operating statements, third party reports, and real estate market information.
- Play key role in managing third party due diligence process, including engagement and review of appraisal, environmental, engineering, and other related reports under the auspices of the U.S. Region’s Collateral Evaluation Services Group (“CESG”).
- Conduct periodic site inspections.
- Prepare analytic credit memorandums for various loan committees, Credit Risk Management, and co-lenders.
- Administer closing of transaction that includes negotiating loan documents with borrowers and coordination of the closing with lenders and borrower’s counsel, as well in-house closing coordinators.
- Active monitoring and management of closed balance sheet loans which includes preparation of annual reviews and periodic reports, and identification of new or changing trends, as well as negotiating, structuring, obtaining approval for, and closing loan modifications where applicable.
- Prepare high-quality presentations of all types for senior management.
- Management, training, and mentoring of junior relationship managers and other team members.
Who you are
- 7 to 10+ years of relevant commercial real estate finance experience.
- Deep knowledge of loan structuring for various types of credit products with the ability to create varied financial models.
- Deep knowledge of loan documentation for CRE lending
- Ability to understand and communicate complex deal structures. Mastery of details.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with client-oriented focus. Must be able to communicate views professionally and succinctly.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Strong analytic skills. Must be able to apply knowledge and to solve problems creatively.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines consistently.
- Ability to work independently and synergistically in a supportive environment.
- Self-motivated and team oriented.
- Some travel required.
- Advanced degree preferred.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $132,000 - $195,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
