Job Purpose
The VP, RIA Sales will be responsible for leading and managing the RIA Consultant sales team. This position manages RIA Consultants (Wholesalers) and the RIA Specialist team (Internal Wholesalers) and will report directly to the Head of RIA, Platform Distribution and Planning. This position requires an individual who has a clear understanding of the sales process, sales management, and territory management and who can contribute to the success of the company and the development of the external sales team.
Essential Responsibilities
- Functions as a business leader for a sales team for Jackson National Life Distributors (JNLD).
- Works closely with the RIA Consultants (Wholesalers) in their respective territories to develop appropriate business plans to maximize territory sales and optimize market share within their territory.
- Coaches and trains the Director of Sales Enablement (oversees Internal Wholesaler team) to lead to better sales outcomes.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Marketing, and other departments within Distribution to assist in the development of products and related marketing and sales materials.
- Works closely with the regions respective Internal Sales Team to help develop and create a cohesive team of Internal and External Wholesalers.
- Partners with Managing Director RIA & Wealth Managers (National Accounts) to align to specific Broker Dealers and RIAs to enhance the relationship and open new opportunities to grow at the firm.
- Travels throughout the division to work directly with RIA Consultants (Wholesalers) to provide operational and sales support, sales ideas, and sales coaching to develop high performing and motivated employees.
- Performs quarterly development reviews with RIA Consultants to evaluate performance objectives and core competencies.
- Strategically plans and manages the deployment of resources to maximize the Region's sales while being responsible for budgeting and expenses to ensure the region comes in under budget.
- Plans and executes product introductions, enhancements, and promotions with RIA Consultants.
- Promotes, fosters, and creates a professional and compliant team environment.
- Collaborates with the other Regional Directors.
- Functions as a liaison and interfaces with the following areas to optimize sales: Market Research, Marketing, Legal, Operations, Customer Service, Internal Wholesalers and Desk Directors.
- Leverages data analytics to drive efficiencies within territories and support prescriptive wholesaling.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong ability to work independently and to communicate clearly and concisely. Ability to create and deliver effective presentations, seminars, workshops, and group meetings to current and prospective advisors.
- Strong leadership skills with a thorough understanding of the investment industry and specific expertise in annuities and investment strategies.
- Thorough knowledge of sales and marketing principles and practices. Expected to maintain knowledge of existing Jackson products, new or enhanced Jackson products, and new and existing Jackson marketing campaigns.
- Experienced in marketing the spectrum of annuities, from fixed to variable, to financial advisors. Ability to identify and position the products and services advisors use in financial planning.
- Proven ability to grow a territory as measured by sales and advisor count.
- Strong aptitude for technology, including software applications, e-mail and database management from remote locations.
- Strong self-starter and innovative thinker.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must possess excellent presentation skills.
- Extensive travel required (up to 75% of the time). Some overnight travel required. Primary travel responsibilities will include engagement with External Wholesalers as well as minimum quarterly in-person engagement with Internal Sales Desk.
- Dedicated virtual/in-person activity with leadership of various departments (Marketing, Data/Intelligence, Advanced Strategies, Product, Strategic Relationships, etc.) to drive connectivity across all departments in Distribution to support sales efforts.
- Ability to strategically have input into decisions that positively impact the broader Jackson and Distribution organizations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree required.
7+ years of sales experience in investments, mutual funds, insurance, or annuities required.
10+ years of financial industry experience required.
Prior insurance of investment wholesaling experience preferred.
Management experience preferred.
FINRA Series 6 and 63 registration required.
Current state life insurance license preferred.
