POSITION VISION
This position is accountable for the development and implementation of sales and marketing strategies, selection and retention of sales and marketing staff, supervision of advertising, guidance and direction of direct sales activities, and all reporting and controls which are generated for tracking and performance review purposes for Wright Beverage Distributing’s entire distribution network.
QUANTIFIABLE POSITION OBJECTIVES
1. Attain sales revenue and gross profit goals.
2. Achieve volume, distribution, and market share goals.
3. Maintain budget adherence for all sales & marketing department functions including sales labor budget.
4. Visibility in the market (e.g. 4 days/month).
5. Purchase authorizations within budget.
6. Ensure compliance to the company’s approved supplier standards (i.e. Market standards, annual audits, quality standards, etc.).
7. Achievement of targeted supplier marketing expense co-op ratios.
8. Ensures completion of annual marketing plans and supplier service policies on schedule
9. Is responsible for ensuring an efficient and concise communication structure is in place within the Sales, Chain and Marketing departments.
10. Attends at least 30 Key Account Calls throughout the year and follows recap protocol.
QUALITATIVE POSITION OBJECTIVES
1. Oversee short-term and long-term strategic/tactical plans to increase sales and distribution of all brands.
2. Maintain excellent working relationships with suppliers and key retailers.
3. Provide training to and development of direct reports.
4. Execute personal development initiatives as set forth by the COO.
5. Establish/mentor a successor; develop direct reports into true managers.
6. Build profitable portfolio depth with high end and smaller suppliers.
PLANNING AND STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT
1. Create and submit the annual sales and marketing plans and budgets for approval.
2. Identify and research new suppliers / brands.
3. Monitor and make recommendations for brand / package deletions.
4. Responsible for coordinating pricing meetings and approving all frontline and discount pricing.
5. Oversee and offer direction to Brand-marketing calendar development.
6. Approve all supplier incentives and programs to better fit the market and specialized sales organization.
7. Conducts PRC meetings and ensures adherence to product schedule.
8. Conduct monthly meetings with direct reports to review performance metrics and oversee implementation of such plans.
9. Monitor effectiveness of communication protocol for sales and marketing.
10. Review development, execution and effectiveness of local marketing programs in coordination with the Marketing Director.
11. Annual performance reviews of all direct reports: Sales Managers, Chain Director, Marketing Director
12. Ensures trade practices are followed according to SLA guidelines.
SALES AND MARKETING MANAGEMENT
1. Analyze all sales and marketing performance-related data; review with direct reports monthly or more frequently as needed.
2. Ensure all direct reports are in compliance with required time in the market.
3. Review and approve all weekly expense reports for direct reports.
4. Attend monthly and annual business plan meetings; review sales/marketing updates.
CUSTOMER RELATIONS
1. Attend key supplier and industry annual conventions.
2. Actively maintain and strengthen appropriate peer-level supplier/Retailer relationships.
3. Attend supplier meetings as required (e.g. midyear reviews, annual planning).
4. Attend Key Account reviews and provide input to maximize The Wright Group’s presence in these accounts.
5. Address all customer complaints with direct reports.
MINIMUM/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Education:
- Minimum: High School Diploma
- Preferred: College Degree
- Skills:
- Minimum: Proficient in Microsoft Applications, strong communication skill including verbal and written. Proficient in Microsoft office applications, especially Power Point.
- Preferred: Superior communication skills. Strong math skills, creative initiative
- Experience:
- Minimum: Five years in sales and marketing/management role.
- Preferred: Any experience in Spirit and Beverage industry.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to drive for short or long distances. The employee must be able to use a computer, including typing and using a mouse.
WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS
Must be comfortable interacting with retail accounts. Exposed to all weather conditions due to
amount of travel associated with position. Ability to drive to branch locations on regular basis as
required and ability to travel overnight for supplier meetings and conventions.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
Must hold a valid, clean NYS driver’s license that is acceptable to our insurance carrier.
