Location/Division Specific Information
Our Materials and Structural Analysis business helps customers accelerate research and discoveries by delivering innovative microscopy, spectroscopy and microanalysis solutions, such as world-class scanning and transmission electron microscopes, DualBeam™ FIB-SEMs, and spectrometers, combined with advanced software suites. We span across the business areas of spectroscopy, visualization software, semiconductor, life sciences, and material sciences, as well as global support functions like commercial sales, service, operations, research and development, advanced technologies and marketing.
How will you make an impact?
As a Global Director of Pharmaceutical Sales and Development, you will support the growth of the Life Sciences Electron Microscopy business within the Materials and Structural Analysis Division, by driving market shares through lead generation and Sales execution. Intellectual curiosity and passion will provide the opportunity to grow within team, both regionally and globally, as well as across the Thermo Fisher organization.
What you will do:
- Focus on market creation by driving pipeline creation and new customer adoption of Pharma and Biotech customers by working with the Business Unit marketing teams on strategies to deploy regionally and globally.
- Drive the Sales execution (1-2 years scope) of the overall commercial strategic Pharma plan of the Thermofisher Electron Microscopy Life Sciences Business.
- Drive the Regional Pharma Sales teams in a matrix organization, focusing on Global Pharma account execution
- Collaborate with the Life Sciences Pharma and Biotech Business development directors and set up practical methods to roll out pipeline growth campaigns that support the strategic plan.
- Coordinate Worldwide Sales development efforts by working together with the regional Sales development teams and Sales Account teams
- Support the regional Pharma teams, by contributing your C-suite customer relationships within the Pharma and Biotech business.
- Analyse and propose new Sales development methods used by peers inside and outside the Company.
- Perform monthly pipeline reviews and report out to the Life Sciences management team.
- Manage specific campaign rollouts with the Global Sales Force.
- Coordinate workshops and site visits targeting new customers
- Influence business strategies based on Analysis of market trends, customer requirements, and competitive strategy, and finding opportunities for growing customer and business value through product positioning and differentiation.
- Timely feedback product marketing management about market trends and competitive updates
- Work closely with the sales organization to gain business by providing outstanding sales strategies & value propositions, especially with high value and complex deals
How you will get here
Education
- Academic Degree in chemistry or life sciences, material sciences, or engineering, and 3 - 7 years of professional experience in a Pharma/Biotech commercial environment will be considered
- Structural Biology, protein sciences or Biochemistry background preferred
Experience
- Proven Expertise in Sales and sales development of capital equipment products in Pharma/ Biotech accounts on a worldwide scale
- Demonstrates to be able to propose creative and innovative solutions to complex problems involving all business aspects
- Builds relationships, drives results and make ethical decisions
- Able to operate in culturally different and diverse environments on a world-wide scale
- Track record in delivering results and holding self-accountable
- Good level of eye for business and commercial excellence
- Experience with Digital Marketing tools and platforms
- Experience with customer relation management systems (CRM’s)
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Deep knowledge of the BioPharma / Biotech commercial landscape.
- Ability to generate pipeline and business opportunity leads
- Ability to sell strategic and new products to existing and new customers
- Ability to increase our market share by generating new business leads
- Ability to synthesize and integrate customer and colleague insights, draw conclusions/implications, and translate information into product requirements, portfolio strategies, and business recommendations.

- Collaborate with, and nurture positive relationships with multi-national and cross-functional matrix teams
- Meeting or exceeding pipeline and bookings targets
- Work remotely, to flexible patterns, and with the ability to travel up to 50%

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $125,300.00-$15,000.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
