Holiday Inn & Suites Elgin is seeking a motivated, service-driven Catering Sales & Events Manager that will be responsible for contracting and executing events to include, weddings, social, meetings and conference events.
As a Hotel Catering Sales and Event Manager, you would be a key contributor to site inspections, maintaining strong customer relationships and working as a team member with the entire hotel.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Negotiate creative and attractive menu presentations and event proposals to clients, achieve maximum revenue/profit potential and fulfillment of contractual responsibilities while satisfying the clients experience.
- Distribute Banquet Event Orders and updates to all appropriate hotel departments to facilitate efficient planning.
- Communicate group details and changes to all hotel departments, detailing out the customer needs with all departments to ensure customer expectations are met
- Prospect for new catering business using a wide variety of methods including phone calls, outside sales calls, trade shows, community functions, sales blitzes, internet prospecting, entertainment, supplier partnerships, etc.
- Maintain an active trace/follow-up system via Delphi (salesforce)
- Ensure accuracy of Banquet Checks, master account and provide bill review prior to start of program or event and secure full payments.
- Maintain knowledge of hotel facilities, capacities and dimensions of meeting space and basic operational needs of all operating departments. Understand venue capabilities to provide resourceful options between client, third party vendors and internal meetings.
- Follow-up with customers by sending thank you notes and re-booking when possible.
Preferred Qualifications:

- Self-motivated person with flexible work schedule primarily Tuesday through Saturday
- High level of creativity and attention to detail
- Experience with Delphi (salesforce) and OPERA
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Impeccable selling and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving skills; ability to handle difficult situations and guests
- Ability to multi-task and make decisions in a fast-paced, client driven environment
- Minimum 2-3 years hotel catering industry experience
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
