JOB SUMMARY:

  • Assist in insurance product development and management of existing insurance programs.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in the development and implementation of insurance strategies for Caterpillar Insurance Services Corporation (CISC) and other Caterpillar business units.
  • Assists in the management of insurance products domestically and internationally. Management of the products includes underwriting, pricing, distribution, loss control, claims, and customer service; marketing; and sales resulting in achievement of the business unit’s financial objectives.
  • Maintains underwriting, marketing and policy files, and may train customers in reporting and agency functions, as job requires. Assembles submissions, proposals and other marketing materials.
  • Develops and maintains a book of business for the business unit. This includes coordination of support activities performed by other members of the CISC staff.
  • Interacts with dealers and CAT Business Units to support the enterprise’s objectives.
  • May assist in coordinating data to support the underwriting aspects of pricing, compliance and marketing for new and existing products including coordination with actuarial and IT departments.
  • May assist in the development and maintenance of queries and reports from various enterprise systems that relate to CISC programs. These reports are utilized by the company in the marketing and profitability management of the core lines of business.
  • May handle credit card information, if selected and trained as a member of a small team of employees to accept payment for new and renewal contracts, policies or change endorsements in this matter.
  • Participates in accomplishment of continuous improvement objectives for the department. Progress toward accomplishment of these is measured through maintenance of necessary measurements and analysis of associated data. Participates in the identification of problem areas and development of resolutions to address them.
  • Understands the Harassment policy of the company and is responsible for its application in all aspects of employment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to apply time management, organization and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply problem-solving and decision-making skills, within the scope of job duties.
  • Demonstrated expertise in preparing high quality documents, reports, spreadsheets and graphics.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply rating mechanics to product exposures to develop price quotes, as required.
  • Knowledge of risk management techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in an organized manner.
  • Advanced knowledge of policy forms and coverage descriptions.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply negotiation skills with service partners to arrive at mutually agreed upon service standards and business practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of and adherence to the Compliance Policy for Caterpillar Insurance Company and insurance affiliates.
  • Thorough knowledge of insurance products and their markets, compliance, regulations and NAIC standards.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply and demonstrate statistical analysis and math skills.
  • Ability to sit, focus on computer screen, and type on keyboard for long periods of time.
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize computer based software to produce documents, reports, and spreadsheets.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply effective oral, written, and listening communication skills.
  • Ability to apply math computation skills used in insurance pricing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and the ability to apply managerial and leadership skills to specific situations.
  • Knowledge of human resources policies and procedures.
  • Ability to develop and motivate personnel to achieve objectives.
  • Ability to speak, read and comprehend languages other than English may be essential
  • Ability to drive a car or arrange for adequate transportation to and from dealerships, customer sites, etc.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar Business Units, Caterpillar products including their applications and markets, and Caterpillar dealer organizations, within scope of job duties.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • A 4-year college or university degree and minimum of 4 years exempt experience in property and casualty insurance or risk mitigation is recommended.
  • Some formal training is preferred in CPCU, AMIM, IIA or similar programs. CPCU is preferred.
  • Must be licensed as an insurance agent in all U.S. jurisdictions if required.
  • Equivalent experience may be substituted for education.
