Full description of the position

Overview:
(This is a remote opportunity and can be located anwhere in the U.S.)
The National Account Manager will provide both National and site-specific account relationship development at large, multi-site strategic accounts. These accounts will generally represent current sales greater than $1M and greater than $5M in potential. This includes initiating the relationship (new account development), developing existing accounts (account penetration), and managing accounts (maintaining and enhancing account relationships). If it is determined certain accounts brought on cannot develop into a NAM-type account, work closely with sales team to transition the account to an Account Manager. Responsible for negotiating, implementing, and ensuring compliance to verbal and written agreements with strategic accounts. Will be charged with developing, expanding, and maintaining agreements that deliver strong revenue growth within our value proposition while improving profitability.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement programs and plans for the accomplishment of Company sales objectives
  • Provide direction and personal involvement as required to support the field in the planning, penetration, and barrier removal within high potential sites
  • Improve and/or maintain rate of growth with existing National Accounts and develop new agreements (verbal and/or written) with targeted high potential new accounts
  • Each NAM has the ability to leverage margin to drive business results; it is acceptable to have margin degradation; the only condition is the need to recover the investment by outpacing sales growth beyond a 4X incremental sales to 1% gross profit margin reduction
  • Proven track record on Enterprise Wide Selling; able to lead and navigate a sales campaign through multiple levels in a complex organization
  • Evaluate, negotiate, and direct the development, maintenance, or discontinuation of account agreements through the contract management process
  • Negotiate significant profitable opportunities both with new and existing strategic customers for Sheffield Metals International
  • Develop and implement value-added programs and key measurements that align the customer’s business objectives with our value proposition
  • Provide visible leadership and facilitation of the sales management process to create improved revenues and earnings for the Company
  • Coach Account Managers relative to the strategic and tactical implementation of customer specific market plans while providing feedback for their professional development
  • Provide leadership in change management methodology within the company and throughout the customer’s organization
  • Create and maintain a strong relationship plan with field and support teams
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Education

High school diploma or GED is required; an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university with a focus in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Marketing, or related discipline; in the absence of a degree, directly-related job experience serving in an industrial sales role, where a number of years and proven knowledge may offset the degree requirement

  • Valid driver’s license in good standing that meets company requirements
  • Must be able to lift or pull a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Requires solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Strong analytical, conceptual and planning skills are required
  • Excellent math skills and overall PC literacy (Microsoft Office) are required
  • Must be detail oriented, self-motivated and disciplined with the ability to multi-task
  • Must successfully complete criminal background check, physical, drug screen, and E-Verify
