Are you looking for a career in Sales with a market leader in AI and vision technology? We are looking for a Sales Development Representative to work on a hybrid schedule in our Detroit, MI area office. Cognex is the world's leading provider of vision systems, manufacturing AI software, sensors, and industrial barcode readers. Cognex is growing annually and we are looking for candidates looking to grow with the business to join our Sales Development Team.
The role of the Sales Development Representative (SDR) is to follow up on inbound and outbound activities deploying various prospecting approaches across target accounts. The primary role of an SDR is to get in touch with prospects and customers, identify their interests, discover their needs and qualify potential buyers while helping to nurture and strengthen the relationship between the account and their Account Executive. Through a combination of email, phone calls, leads, social selling and face-to-face events, our SDRs team mission is to generate qualified pipeline that converts into won revenue for the Sales business. This is a learning environment in which SDRs will get the opportunity to visit customers, use our technology and build the technical knowledge, sales skills and business acumen needed to progress to the next stage of their career.
Essential Functions:

  • Is Numbers and Results Driven: Will conduct outbound calls, take inbound calls, send professional emails, and use social media outreach to engage with prospects. Will identify potential customers and decision-makers within target markets, establish rapport and will use strong interpersonal skills to generate new leads
  • Values Research and Qualification: Will investigate and conduct needs analysis to determine a customer or prospect's fit. Will understand how to uncover the challenges facing a business in a defined industry and/or line of business
  • Is a team Player: Will work together with the Sales and Marketing Teams on campaigns and Sales/ Marketing plays while building a strong and collaborative relationship with both teams
  • Enjoys Mentoring, Training and Coaching: Will have a growth mindset, and enjoys working in an environment where the drive to excel, curiosity, agility and emotional intelligence are highly valued
  • Has a Passion for Technology: Cognex is the world's leading provider of vision systems, manufacturing AI software, sensors, and industrial barcode readers. The SDR will have a passion for technology within the industry and will focus on upskilling their product and industry knowledge

Requirements:
  • A minimum of 1-2 years in B2B Sales/ Sales Development or relevant work experience
  • Has the confidence to hold a technical or senior level conversation and the capacity to listen actively in order to identify prioritized customer needs
  • Has effective time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Is technologically Proficient and comfortable with CRM systems (e.g., SFDC), email marketing tools, and other sales productivity tools
  • Demonstrates exceptional drive, passion, emotional intelligence, maturity, and good judgement
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree with a major in business, science or engineering or other disciplines an advantage but not required
