Primary Function:

The Business Development Specialist (BDS) will be responsible for developing and fostering relationships with industry partners, customer, and clients in an effort to compete for new and recurrent business opportunities. The BDS will lead the entire capture process for select opportunities from opportunity assessment, generating proposal responses, making customer presentations and helping to close the deal.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct customer interface at key customer facilities and locations
  • Develop and leverage data analysts regarding customer, program and competitor positions and strategies
  • Provide marking intelligence/G2 on Key programs and initiatives, including capture/bid strategies, timelines, requirements, and schedules.
  • Provide a network of program and personnel knowledge.
  • Provide onsite presence and visibility.
  • Work problems and concerns at customer sites.
  • Provide program management assistance, reviews and critique.
  • Facilitate meetings with key government or business decision makers.
  • Maintain a liaison and rapport with current and potential customers.
  • Act as a technical representative/advisor when requested.
  • Provide a monthly status report of all activities and results.
  • Support development and execution of capture and campaign plans on specific, targeted pursuits.
  • Provide a win strategy guidance to capture and proposal managers.
  • Plan and oversee marketing strategies from cradle to grave.
  • Research organizations and potential contracts to forecast upcoming proposal and award opportunities.
  • Travel as an essential function of the position, to meet with customers and clients to understand the potential for upcoming work and proposal efforts.
  • Find and develop new markets.
  • Attend conferences, meetings, and industry events.
  • Lead the development of white papers, RFI, Market Survey, and Sources Sought responses, and in-person meetings and demonstrations.
  • Develop and present bid/no bid recommendations and pursuit and capture strategies at monthly reviews.
  • Support the capture and proposal development phases of the opportunity lifecycle by providing customer insights, and proposal writing.
  • Work as a member of a team with the ability to effectively communicate ideas and strategies.
  • Responsible for managing travel for the multiple personnel within company and Joint Travel Regulation Guideline.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Conditions:

Employee will be working mostly within an office environment. Employee will travel to work site locations where employee will be expected to dress in appropriate manner to deal with clients and customers. Travel will be necessary to meet the requirements for the positions

Job Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a likeable people-person intent on solving problems.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing or engineering; Education and Experience combination may meet this requirement.
  • Strong communication skills: especially proposal or technical writing skills.
  • Ability to speak in front of large groups and communicate ideas in a concise and articulate manner.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and the ability to write required documentation to generate new work.
  • Prior experience in electronics, construction or similar technical field is a big plus.
  • Prior military experience is a big plus.
