Position Title: Sales Manager - Wine & Spirits
Department: Sales & Marketing
Position reports to: Director of Sales - Wine & Spirits
Primary purpose and function of position: Manage and lead a Wine & Spirits Sales Team to achieve and execute assigned sales and marketing objectives.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage, lead, motivate and develop sales representatives including selection, performance management and employee relations
- Schedule and conduct ride-withs and team sells as required
- Maintain retail call frequency
- Travel as required
- Establish and monitor quality control standards
- Execute Wine & Spirits programs to drive key sales objectives and deliver KPI's
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly employee communications, schedules and reports such as volume, inventory and budgets
- Drive the execution and implementation of trade marketing plans to enhance the sales, distribution and merchandising of all Wine & Spirits brands
- Execute marketing programs such as retailer entertainment, sales promotions, consumer sampling, and merchandising aligned with retail level activation
- Participate in evening and weekend promotions as necessary
- Manage expenses for assigned area of responsibility
- Ensure compliance with all state legal guidelines as well as Grey Eagle standards and policies
- Respond, investigate and resolve all retailer delivery questions and concerns
Qualifications and requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required
- 3 years sales experience preferably in the beverage or consumer products industry
- Wine & Spirits credentials a plus
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Project a friendly, courteous and professional image
- Highly self-motivated with a positive, can-do and results oriented attitude
- Excellent internal and external customer orientation
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated track record of increasing sales, managing teams and coaching skills
- Knowledge of budget development and management
- Excellent problem solving skills with strong attention to detail
- Proficient in internet based programs as well as MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to meet physical requirements of the job including, but not limited to: repetitively handling cases of beer, reaching above head height, climbing, bending, twisting, squatting and kneeling
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push or pull package product weighing 50 plus pounds; and draught product weighing up to 165 pounds
- Regular and reliable attendance required
- Familiarity with local, state and federal liquor laws
- Valid driver license and safe driving record
