JOB SUMMARY

The Sales Assistant supports sales teams by performing various tasks, including entering work orders, researching customer issues and serving as a liaison with other departments. This position prepares sales reports, general sales correspondence and assists with daily operations in the sales department.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• May enter work orders in the routing system.
• Research customer issues.
• Serve as the liaison between Sales and other departments.
• Prepare sales reports and contract documents for assigned sales teams.
• Assist with compiling sales data and monthly sales calculations for commission reports.
• Check rates of sale against the rate model.
• Close out appropriate customer relationship management (CRM) opportunities.
• Assist with the planning and execution of meetings, events and strategy sessions including offsite meetings.
• Serve as a backup to other Sales Assistants as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or its equivalent
• Must exhibit a professional telephone and personal demeanor
• Basic proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite products – e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook
• Must demonstrate verbal and written communication skills in English
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work with staff at all levels in the company

PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Some college courses
• Familiarity with the solid waste management industry
• General knowledge of municipal solid waste regulations
