Salary: $48,000 plus commission

Position Overview:

The Sales & Events Manager is responsible for marketing, selling, and servicing events. Primary sales efforts are in private events, beverage, and off-site food truck events and includes menu coordination, agenda setting and meeting services. Duties also include contract review and facilitating communication before, during and post event with pertinent leadership and Restaurant staff to ensure the highest level of service.

The Sales & Events Manager also hosts Restaurant tours, maintains strong customer relationships, participates in, and may lead event meetings and other staff meetings, and works as a team member with the Restaurant staff. The Manager also works closely with an assigned coordinator and other support staff.

This position is responsible for providing executive, administrative, and development support to the Director of Operations and Company while maintaining confidentiality and discretion in all matters relating to the Company, its leadership team, clients, vendors/suppliers/purveyors, and community contacts. This position will report directly to the General Manager.

Essential Functions:

Sales, Business Development and Marketing

· Visit and court potential clients to increase awareness and exposure for the Company.

· Target convention and hotel conferences, capitalizing on ways to attract and sell to each.

· Target companies that use Destination Management Companies and independent planners, and those that employee in-house event planners to find event venues.

· Create and conduct proposal presentations and RFP responses.

· Attend networking events in a sales capacity.

· Maintain and grow Company-owned and confidential existing client list.

· Coordinate production and distribution of marketing materials that positively position the Company, build brand recognition, and drive sales.

· Assist in the development and implementation of marketing plans as needed.

· Provide bi-weekly sales and marketing report to Director of Operations and leadership team recapping activities, successes, new ideas to drive revenue.

Event Planning and Coordination

· Ensure event contracts are fully executed and all payments are received.

  • Ensure compliance with insurance, legal, health and safety obligations.

· Coordinate event details with clients once contracts are signed.

· Work with all event vendors, including florist, A/V, rental company, security, parking, etc.

· Work with Restaurant operations team on all event preparation.

· Meet with clients for additional walk-throughs to finalize event details.

· Assist with continual up-selling of client and event throughout the working relationship.

· On-site day of event coordinating to ensure execution is on schedule, maintaining contact with the client throughout and coordinating vendors.

  • Proactively handle any arising issues and troubleshoot any emerging problems on the event day.

· Provide event recaps and operation, sales and production suggestions to Director of Operations and the leadership team.

· Maintain fiscal responsibility in terms of rentals, supplies, and labor.

Other Manager Responsibilities

  • Assist in overseeing day-to-day operations.
  • Maintain budgets and optimize expenses.
  • Maintain Company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure employees work productively and develop professionally.
  • Assist in recruitment and training of new employees.
  • Evaluate and improve operations and financial performance.
  • Assist in the employee assessment and performance review process.
  • Prepare regular reports for Director of Operations and Company Owners.
  • Ensure staff follows health and safety regulations. Maintain and enforce new COVID-19 playbook.
  • Offer solutions to issues (e.g., profit decline, employee conflicts, loss of business to competitors, etc.)
  • Floor presence during shift, greeting and interacting with guests while overseeing quality standards of food and beverage with guest satisfaction in mind.
  • Perform daily inspection of Restaurant for readiness according to standards.
  • Responsible for opening/closing procedures of shift, including Logbook, pre-meal shift, guest comment card process, in-house accounting procedures, and cash handling during shift (two closing shifts per work week).

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Advanced degree in sales/marketing preferred. 5-7 years of experience in sales management and/or marketing, hospitality industry a must.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to drive sales.
  • Must be savvy in marketing and promotional strategies.
  • Possess an outgoing personality, ability to approach all individuals, and to build and maintain relationships; ability to work collaboratively with all individuals on the team, including Director of Operations, Restaurant and Kitchen Managers, and Restaurant staff members.
  • High degree of professionalism and integrity; reliable and have the ability to keep collected Restaurant and client information secured and confidential.
  • Strong project management, time management, decision making, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills; must compose and prepare correspondence and/or proposals; demonstrated ability to interact with guests, employees and third parties that reflects highly on the Restaurant, the Company, and the brand.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and producing BEOs and sales contracts.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas to Director of Operations, Leadership, clients, and staff members.

· Ability to work independently and with professional discretion under minimal supervision, prioritizing and multitasking as needed.

  • Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, and organizational skills are a must.
  • Ability to travel to off-site event locations.
  • Must maintain a valid Driver’s License.
  • Excellent attendance and reliability with flexibility to work outside of normal business hours is essential; required to work weekends and late nights, along with daytime office hours.
