DESCRIPTION
This vacancy is located in Baltimore City, MD
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the Change Management and Safety & Security Certification Programs.
- Track and evaluate proposed system changes and modifications to determine their impact on MDOT MTA’s safety risk.
- Perform reviews of system modification requests and assigns to contracted firms as necessary for support.
- Track and evaluate construction projects or existing facility modifications to determine their impact on MDOT MTA’s safety risk.
- Track and evaluate new capital acquisitions and modifications to major equipment or infrastructure to determine their impact on MDOT MTA’s safety risk.
- At the direction of the Chief Safety Officer, or designee, assign tasks and coordinate with consultant firms contracted by the Office of Safety to perform safety certification work for projects.
- Track and evaluate proposed system expansion and new or modified routes to determine their impact on MDOT MTA’s safety risk.
- Perform safety certification on active projects and produce System Safety Certification Plans and Safety Certification hazard analyses.
- Effectively maintains the agency-wide Safety and Security Certification Program Plan and all associated processes, procedures, and other documents related to safety certification.
- Communicates and interfaces with various internal MTA departments, MDOT Transportation Business Units (TBU) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).
Ideal Candidate:
- Able to perform routine project management, research, data analysis review and create reports.
- Excellent organizational skills to maintain large amounts of records
- Excellent written and verbal presentation skills
- Perform any additional duties related to compliance, audits and safety certification processes.
Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Notes:
1. Additional experience in administrative or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Additional graduate-level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year-to-year basis for the required general experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience
Must be able to obtain Transit Safety & Security (TSSP) Bus/Rail within three (3) years of hire.
