Big Creek Lumber Company, a leading supplier of lumber and building materials in central California, seeks a Contractor Sales Specialist for our Santa Cruz retail yard. This position has substantial growth potential for someone with a strong interest in both sales and the construction industry.

What you’ll do:

• Perform inside sales with contractors, homeowners and walk-in customers on the phone and in the store
• Determine customer needs
• Efficiently and accurately generate customer quotes
• Place orders for stock and special order material
• Ensure that customer orders progress smoothly from quote through delivery
• Build, grow and service a strong customer base
• Deal with any customer concerns in a pleasant, professional, effective manner
• Perform other job related office functions

What you bring:

• A good practical knowledge of building materials and construction terminology
• Outstanding phone skills
• Good organizational skills
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to deal with interruptions without losing focus on a specific task that needs to be done
• Ability to effectively prioritize tasks
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively with others to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction
• Ability to speak Spanish is a plus

What your schedule will be:

• Full-time on-site
• Monday-Friday plus occasional Saturdays
• Shift may vary, covering business hours from 6:30 AM - 5:30 PM
