We are seeking a Business Development Specialist to join our Marketing and Business Development team. As a member of the Firmwide Marketing Department, this position is responsible for supporting practice and industry team leaders and attorneys with the execution of marketing plans, as well as programs and activities that support the Firmwide strategic plan. This position aids attorneys of all levels in effective business development efforts, including developing programs, webinars and presentations, sponsorships, speaking and writing opportunities, client entertainment and education, and networking opportunities, among others. This individual will have strong project management skills needed to manage and execute activities with strict deadlines. On occasion, this role must work a flexible schedule to accommodate projects and events. This is a full-time position and will require regular and predictable on-site and remote attendance. This position will perform other related duties as assigned. The ability to collaborate with other departments to provide efficient and effective client service is essential.
Essential Functions
Client/Business Development
- Serves as the marketing and business development team expert for the assigned practice/industry team(s), providing strategic guidance and proactive recommendations for all marketing and BD initiatives. Responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing preparation, review and updating of marketing and business development plans, materials, and programs to set strategy and initiatives.
- Takes ownership of project timelines and communicating necessary lead times to ensure deadlines are met.
- Devotes significant time to developing a deep understanding of assigned practice teams’ key clients. This will include knowing each attorney’s key client relationships, practice area strengths and projects/case experience.
- Research, identify, and target new business development opportunities, whether from existing clients or prospects.
- Collaborate with attorneys to develop client specific presentations, proposals and RFP/RFI responses, and other client-facing communications.
- Develop practice submissions for directories, databases and other publications as needed.
- Develop new opportunities to increase visibility of individual attorneys, practice and industry groups.
- Assist with integration of lateral partners with a focus on target priorities and integration of existing clients.
- Stay abreast of current developments and trends impacting the group’s clients and prospects through proactive market research. Perform competitive intelligence and market research as needed.
Marketing
- Draft, update, and maintain marketing collateral materials, including relevant sections of website, blogs, and social media.
- Work with the Firm’s Marketing and Communications team to secure effective media exposure for assigned groups.
- Spearhead and coordinate business development and client events and webinars. Manage and lead sponsorship activities, speaking engagements, and other marketing opportunities in conjunction with the Firm’s Marketing and Communications team.
- Leverage attorney thought leadership opportunities such as speaking and writing.
- Oversee participation in conferences or as a sponsor in various trade shows or other events.
- Draft and develop internal announcements as well as media releases in conjunction with the Marketing and Communications team.
- Work with Marketing and Communications team to update mailing lists for external client communications including: events, newsletters, and client alerts.
- Collaborate across the Marketing Department to ensure transparency, knowledge-sharing, increase team efficiencies, and to maximize the Firm’s resources.

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s or similar work experience and certifications that demonstrate an equivalency
- 3+ Years of Marketing Experience

Hours / Schedule / Location:
- 40 hours per week / Monday through Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM / Portland or Seattle Office
- This is a full-time, non-exempt position that requires regular and predictable attendance
- This position will require travel between offices and for Firm sponsored events.
- This position reports directly to the Business Development Manager
- This is a hybrid position and will require both on-site and remote work.
Salary Range:
- $69,000 annually to $85,000 annually

- Other compensation may include bonuses, profit sharing, HSA employer contributions, prizes and gifts
