The Sales Associate role is responsible for providing a high level of customer service at all times. They are accountable for learning and consistently performing all steps of the selling process in a professional manner. In order to educate the customer, sales professionals are expected to learn and understand the features/benefits of each product.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by displaying compassion, concern and patience in all customer interactions.
- Drive self to consistently exceed sales results.
- Develop ways to improve and increase sales.
- Proficient in each step of the selling process: welcoming, connecting, discovery, presentation, addressing reactions, closing, adding on and following up.
- Keep current on market trends in the jewelry industry.
- Network locally to build relationships and increase results.
- Understand and is fully functional operating the repair module.
- Actively demonstrates the ability and willingness to turn over sales to a more appropriate colleague as necessitated by prescribed customer service standards.
- Learn and understand the features and benefits of each product.
- Understand gem treatments and appropriate disclosures.
- Demonstrate ongoing professional development in product knowledge and selling skills.
- Continuously progresses through recommended or prescribed training programs.
- Attend training sessions with vendors (may fall outside of standard working hours on occasion).
- Build, maintain, and preserve customer relationships.
- Respond to customer complaints and comments in a timely and professional manner.
- Adhere to chain of command and respected business and team interactive protocols.
- Perform customer Follow-up (sends “thank you” notes appropriately, keeps in contact, etc.).
- Correspond appropriately and proactively with customers regarding purchases, sales and events.
- Maintain orderly and effective customer records (wish lists, repairs, special orders, pending lists).
- Consistently and accurately completes paperwork and other necessary tasks.
- Conduct opening and closing procedures, merchandising, and regular store maintenance.
- Demonstrate understanding of the security protocol and procedures.
- Assist with merchandising of merchandise, as needed and/or requested.
- Work together with all departments to ensure an efficient and positive Josephs culture.
Education and Experience:
- Required education varies; high school diploma required.
- Graduate gemologist degree or previous Gemological Institute of America (GIA) course work is preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 3 years work experience in a comparable field (retail, luxury, hospitality).
This is a full-time position regularly scheduled for 40 hours per week. Regularly scheduled from 9:15am - 6:00pm Monday-Friday and 8:45am-5:30pm on Saturday. Employees are scheduled off one day during the work week and Sunday. Holiday traffic may demand more hours worked per week.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
