SUMMARY

Responsible for generating leads and securing orders for MHE products to meet annual sales projections assigned by the Vice President/MHE. The primary focus of this role is to provide effective solutions to our Customers. Strong knowledge of the application of MHE products is essential in this role to generate sales of new equipment as well as the promotion of retrofits and re-rates, spare parts and training.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages sales efforts, including developing sales leads through customer visits, managing activities of sales representative, negotiation and sales functions, and monitoring of open proposals.
  • Maintains and expands customer base by outside resources; building and maintaining rapport with key customers; identifying new customer opportunities and, counseling sales representatives.
  • Prepares and distributes accurate quotations for products, literature requests, new equipment, and rerates/retrofits, in response to inquiries from customers, engineers, contractors, sales representatives and service technicians.
  • Negotiates and closes orders within pre-determined margins.
  • Analyzes the project and recommends proper equipment for application.
  • Communicates with customers, sales representatives, and internal Merrick functions (Projects, Engineering, Finance, R&D, Manufacturing, Customer Support, etc.) as required, to affirm product, system, and schedule needs to allow engineering to prepare customer drawings and manufacturing releases.
  • Reconciles the order so it can be entered into the Manufacturing system. Reconciliations must be accurate and contain the necessary information to allow engineering to prepare customer drawings and manufacturing releases.
  • Participates in planning, setup, and manning trade shows for the associated market segment sales group as required.
  • Professionally presents MHE features and benefits with regards to competitive alternatives to earn customer confidence and win orders.
  • Fully comply with the Company’s Anti-Corruption Compliance Policy.
  • Responsible for complying with Federal and State tax regulations that pertain to this position’s duties and responsibilities and company policies.
  • Makes sales calls (trips) for product and capabilities presentations to both sales representatives and customers on a regular basis.
  • Assists with coordination of field training support for new sales representatives.
  • Participates in special projects between sales, customer service, engineering, or on an as needed basis.
  • Periodically assists with and checks estimates.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • A minimum of 10-20% travel will be required to customer sites.

  • Ensures area remains compliant regarding hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste and universal waste.
  • The following personal protection equipment is required and must be worn while working in the manufacturing facility or customers’ facilities:
  • Company approved safety glasses or goggles.
  • Company approved steel ESD toe shoes.
  • Appropriate hand protection.
  • Ear protection in designated areas.
  • Appropriate clothing.
  • Other safety equipment as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Individual should have strong relationships with customers in heavy duty industrial applications such as cement, steel, mining, minerals, chemicals, power or similar.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to communicate both verbally and written.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE SKILLS: Microsoft Office such as Word and Excel, CAD review software.
  • EQUIPMENT: Computer and other general office equipment.
