Summary of Position:
The Exciting Director of Sales role is responsible for the enthusiastic, efficient and professional acquisition of group, business travel and social catering business at the Inn at Laguna Beach and the Laguna Beach House hotel through leadership of reporting sales and event managers, as well as direct selling efforts. This position reports to the General Manager.

Essential Functions:
- Meet or exceed group and business travel room night and revenue goals
- Consistently meet or exceed social catering revenue goals
- Develop and mentor direct-reporting managers, including sales and event management staff
- Prospect for new business on a daily basis with a minimum of 10 calls per day
- Determine quality and profitability of business
- Qualify and follow through on all leads within 48 hours
- Conduct all site inspections on property
- Enter all leads and update accounts in Sales Force on a regular basis
- Update all accounts with current General Manager, Presidents, CEO’s, VP’s of Sales & Marketing for direct mail campaigns
- Evaluate total hotel production on the monthly P&L statement
- Develop an industry newsletter specific to the sales managers industry and mail quarterly
- Develop an operational sales and service action plan within 30 days, including minimum expectations on operations duties provided by Conference Services
- Maintain continuous communication between Sales, Event Management and the customer at all times
- Keep detailed notes and execute written agreements with all vendors and customers
- Travel to domestic destinations a minimum of (4) times per year
- Prospect and qualify new group clientele from all available resources
- Ability to perform all essential functions within two weeks of employment
- Assist the hotel staff with the setup and servicing events if required
- Analyze and price group and wedding banquet menus on an annual basis
- Effectively create and implement a profitable overall group, business transient and social catering sales and service strategy on a regular basis
- Other tasks as assigned by the General Manager and Vice President of Sales and Event Management
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma required, college degree preferred.
Experience: 3+ years hotel industry selling experience required
Certificates or Licenses: N/A
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to lead and manage multiple direct-reporting managers
Proficient at prospecting and proactive development of new group business opportunities
Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
Ability to use Microsoft Office, Delphi, and Windows operating system
Skilled in sales presentations and utilizing sales tools such as CD-Rom, PowerPoint, and collateral
Ability to manage details effectively
Ability to negotiate effectively
Skilled at verbal and written communication
Ability to maintain a professional image in tough situations
Ability to learn and demonstrate the hotel’s service standards, AAA Diamond standards, and Mystery shopper standards

Organized: Maintain a neat, organized workspace, maintaining important documents pertinent to job
Communicates effectively: Speaks and listens in a clear, thorough, and timely manner, effectively reading and writing, using the English language
