District Sales Manager
The District Sales Manager is responsible for leading the sales strategy and managing a team of Outside Sales Representatives in a specific geographic area. The primary focus of the District Sales Manager will be achieving organic sales and margin goals across the territory. They oversee all aspects of this process to drive organic growth with SPI customers; coordinate sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas, and goals; and Analyze sales statistics gathered by staff to determine sales potential and inventory requirements and monitor the preferences of customers. This position will report to the District Manager. This position will have direct reports that include the Account Managers and Business Development Managers.
Areas of responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Sales Leadership & Coaching
- Lead and coach a team of Outside Sales Representatives to drive profitable growth and achieve budget.
- Establish sales objectives by developing quarterly and annual sales quotas for Account Managers and Business Development Managers; Align with company sales policies and strategies.
- Ensure each team member hits KPIs on a weekly basis and leverage KPI gaps to coach weekly 1:1s
- Coordinate the execution of monthly sales campaigns and product spotlights.
- Promote a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and teamwork.
- Recruit, develop, and retain sales teams to ensure organizational capability to deliver sales and service objectives.
- Leverage business reports to develop strategies, direct work and make good business decisions.
- Manage the coordination of sales efforts in a way that integrates the local markets with national accounts, and omni-channel offering.
- Support and advocate for the SPI Pricing, Purchasing & Fabrication Initiatives
- Support and participate in the on-going development of the SPI Sales Process
- Manage the Sales Quote and Reporting Processes
- Manage Travel & Entertainment Budget
Territory Design
- Work with Regional and District leadership to develop sales budgets, pricing strategies and territory design.
- Design books of business for AMs to include 30-50 customers that are actively managed, retained, and grown. Align with what is worked by AM vs BDM
- Create prioritized list of prospects in the region to deploy the BDM on the highest priority and potential prospects
Communication
- Communicate effectively with Branch, Regional and Executive Leadership to achieve common goals and drive results.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills with all stakeholders and direct reports
- Provides regular, relevant updates to all key stakeholders
- Bring together sales and operations associates – driving collaboration and “one team” in the branches
Customer & Vendor Relationships
- Building and sustaining solid relationships with both existing and potential customers.
- Maintain relationships with key vendor partners and leverage them to help secure more business
- Stay ahead of customer needs and market trends.
