Position Description
The Chimney Chap, located in Hanson, is a reputable and growing company who specializes in Home Heating Solutions, Masonry, & Outdoor Living Products. Established in 1980, our primary focus is working with fireplaces, chimneys, venting, and clothes dryer venting, in compliance with Local, State, and National Building Codes performed by CSIA and NFI Certified Industry Professionals. Whether you heat your home with your fireplace, fueled by gas or oil, gas, wood or pellet appliances, the chimney and venting systems must be maintained for an efficient and safe combustion system.

This particular position outlines the expectations and job responsibilities for a Chimney Sweep Technician. Chimney Sweep Technicians sweep, inspect, and provide provide estimates specifically with chimneys, fireplaces. Minimal masonry repairs and installations are required as well. We work with both residential and commercial customers. No experience is needed, although some requirements are needed. See below for further explanation.
The ideal candidate should be energetic, motivated, detail oriented, have clear and excellent written and verbal communication skills. and a team player. Training available for the right individual. Room to grow.
Benefits include vacation, sick time, paid holidays, retirement, and health insurance. Sales commissions offered on top of base salary.
Full or part time Monday- Friday 7am-4pm. Every other Saturday during peak season which falls between October-February.
Must have the ability to perform, and experience with, the following job functions:
- Maintain high standard of quality while maintaining safe work habits
- Must be able to supervise, instruct, and objectively evaluate the performance of field assistants working with you when needed
- Can work both independently and with team
- Ability to understand and read instructions, drawings, building codes, and other various tools and forms of communications used on job sites
- Must have sufficient knowledge of materials, equipment operation, and tools commonly used in daily activities
- Prefer knowledge with scaffold set up but not required
- Detail oriented
- Clear verbal and communication skills
- Excellent customer service
- Proficient in writing
- Work closely with Owners, Supervisors, and staff to complete project in a timely manner within job costs and under budget
- Maximize productivity and successfully complete installations
- Ability to prioritize and multi task in a fast paced environment
- Strong work ethic and willingness to travel
- Ability to work in extreme conditions
- Ability to bend, stoop and twist continuously throughout the day
- Must be able to use and navigate IPad and Facebook
- CSIA Certification a Plus
- OSHA certification a Plus
Responsibilities:
- Perform chimney sweeps and inspections
- Perform chimney repairs, such as cap installations and crown repairs, and weather seal
- Liner Installations
- Writes up inspection reports
- Writes up estimates
- Follows up with customers when needed
- In house work when needed
- Must be able to lift 50+ pounds and set up a 40’ Ladder
- Must be comfortable with heights and roofs
- Must be able to stoop, bend, and twist comfortably
