Position Outline

Position: AVP - Japan Desk Sales Manager
Department: Sales
Reports to: VP – Chief Business Development Officer
Location: Schaumburg, IL

Position Purpose:
Ensure the successful sale of Nippon Life Benefits group products. Conserve and enhance existing business through effective account management. Cultivate and maintain good relationships with Japanese accounts and brokers.

Essential Functions of the Job:

Marketing and Retention

• Achieve sales goals with new business and cross sell.
• Maintain good relationship with management of Japanese accounts.

Nature and Scope of Responsibilities:

Marketing and Retention

• Achieve sales goals with new business and cross sell.
• Maintain good relationship with management of Japanese accounts.
• Participate actively in renewal process for important Japanese accounts.
• Participate in client and broker meetings as required.

Broker/Consultant and Partner Relationships

• Cultivate broker and consultant relationships.
• Familiarize brokers/consultants with NLB products and services.

Product/Marketing Enhancement.

• Research issues for the development of strategic marketing proposals.
• Provide marketing planning with competitive industry data as requested.

Team Building

• Assist JD Head and Regional Group Sales Director to develop comfortable work environment in the regional office.

Qualifications / Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience.
• Experience in the U.S. insurance industry a plus (3+ years working with brokers, health insurance carriers, etc. preferred).
• Life/Health insurance license in assigned state(s) or ability to obtain one within 90 days from start of employment.
• Fluency in both English and Japanese (reading, writing, and speaking).
• Prior experience with Japanese culture and customs a plus (3+ years working with a Japanese company preferred).
• Valid US driver’s license.

Pay: From $105,000.00 per year
