BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:
Customer Success Sales Representative, Small Business recommends MSC products, services and solutions via telephone with established customers, utilizing an insight selling approach. The sales representative works to improve MSC’s market position and achieve revenue and profit growth within a small customer segment ($50,000 - $200,000 potential). Their objective is to grow sales to achieve department and corporate sales goals by developing existing accounts and through the penetration of newly assigned customers. The portfolio for this position is approximately 150-200 accounts with base revenue ranging between $2.5 - $4M revenue. These customers are in the penetration phase of the customer life cycle and producing revenues between a 5%-30% penetration against identified potential.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

o Responsible for a sales territory of $2.5-$4M in revenue with an objective to exceed sales growth goals by developing existing accounts and penetrating newly assigned customers.

o Grows sales to achieve department and corporate sales goals and aligns sales methodologies with MSC’s purpose and strategic pillars.

o Responsible for the achievement of sales productivity and sales metrics associated with various sales enablement tools and processes.

o Recommends MSC products, services, and solutions via the telephone with the established customer base, utilizing a consultative selling approach.

o Captures customer profiles and operational procurement processes to understand and determine potential and to build the prioritization of the call frequency and the penetration plan required.

o Identifies opportunities throughout the customer’s environment and leverages strategic resources such as MSC’s Special Services Teams, Strategic Suppliers, and other MSC cross-functional resources to drive improvements and value around customer specific operational and technical needs.

o Aligns MSC’s unique insights to key customer priorities, reframing the way customers view their business.

o Drives two-way communication and engages the customer by deliberately linking their business priorities to our value proposition.

o Understands and influences a wide range of customer stakeholders.

o Incorporates economic drivers and has a deep knowledge of customer's business, current macro- and microeconomic trends, industry trends, and potential new business opportunities.

o Qualifies and quantifies the impact of maintaining the status quo or pursuing competitors’ solutions.

o Proactively advances the purchase decision without rushing the customer and assesses the customer’s readiness to proceed at each stage of the buying process.

o Leverages MSC sales and operational processes, and technology tools to execute activities in support of their customers.

o Enrolls and completes assigned talent development plans to further build skills and competencies.

o Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to insure fulfillment of MSC’s vision and unity of purpose.

o Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

o High school diploma or the equivalent is required. BA/BS is preferred.

o 0-2 years sales/customer service experience is preferred.

o Metalworking/MRO product and/or process experience preferred.

o Basic computer literacy required (word/excel)

o Excellent oral and written communication skills are also required.

o Solid business acumen and negotiation skills.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

o A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel up to 2% of the time may be required for training purposes.

o This position may require access to International Traffic in Arms Regulations Information (“ITAR”) and/or Controlled Unclassified Information (“CUI”).

Compensation starting at $54362 – $77660 / year and up dependent on candidate location and experience.
