Full description of the position

Sales Engineer Heavy Industrial Equipment will anticipate and respond to all customer inquiries and strive to exceed all expectations. Coordinate efforts with all required departments to provide superior customer service.
Responsibilities:

  • Respond to customer or outside sales requests for price quotations, order placement, adjustments, and cancellations. Establish and maintain rapport with customers in-order-to provide best possible service
  • Prepare quotations, complete cost analysis and closing of project for final analysis
  • Obtain information from vendors to complete pricing for quotations
  • Process customer orders on open account, cash, check, and credit card transactions
  • Report and discuss customer issues: opportunities, threats, and problems with appropriate company leadership
  • Update and retain activity on orders such as: change notices, scheduling changes, partial shipments and credit holds
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education
A high school diploma or GED is required; an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university with a focus in Business Administration or related discipline; in the absence of a degree, directly related job experience serving in an industrial purchasing role, where a number of years and proven knowledge may offset the degree requirement

Experience & Skills*

  • Experience in Material Handling Equipment, Hydraulic Equipment and Industrial Contracting. Must have experience in Industrial Enviorments.
  • Previous experience in customer service or industrial sales
  • Requires solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and planning skills are required
  • Excellent math skills and overall PC literacy (Microsoft Office) are required
  • Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, and disciplined with the ability to multi-task
  • Excellent Organizational skills

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Engage in various sales activities to sell safety and productive retrofits, components, modernization and new equipment to existing customers and develop new accounts to meet minimum established sales quotas.
  • Prepare or assist in preparing price estimates for service work using established tools, guidelines and input provided.
  • Maintain personal contact with all existing accounts in your area. Prepare related monthly reports.
  • When required, maintain monthly contact with assigned accounts to develop relationships. Document activity with key accounts. Prepare account plans with appropriate actions and forward to District Manager. Schedule and conduct business reviews for customers on an annual basis or as needed.
  • Monitor workload of service department and ensure all open time slots are filled with sold work.
  • Monitor the contract renewal process to ensure customer needs are met in a timely manner and opportunities are not lost. Contact accounts that are not renewing their agreements. Establish and maintain on-going communications with the service department to address issues related to the customer base.
  • Maintain customer and contact information , as required.
  • Follow all established safety rules and procedures, including those established by the customer.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Coordinate with Service Department to ensure seamless scheduling and procurement of materials

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Two (2) years experience in Heavy Industrial Equipment and service preferred. Equivalent education, experience and training will be considered. Must have demonstrated leadership experience, a basic understanding of mechanical and electrical principles, good written and verbal communication skills and good PC skills. Prior experience with cranes is a plus.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must have and maintain a good driving record. Must be willing and able to work off the ground, on occasion.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree preferred however, prior equivalent experience and training will be considered in lieu of formal degree.
