The Group and Ticketing Sales Specialist will manage and generate important revenue streams: group sales, bulk ticket orders, the Museum’s inbound call center, and B2B sales, including tour operators, third party ticket-sellers, and hotel concierge relationships. This is a key position within the area of Guest Services.
- Strategizes and maximizes the bulk sale of general admission and exhibition tickets to groups, organizations, hotels, and tour operators, including online platforms such as Expedia and Tripadvisor.
- Projects sales goals. Develops 12-18 month timelines and strategic plans. Strives to meet and exceed these goals. Provides regular reporting of group sales revenue and visitation data to management.
- Develops key contacts and builds relationships with representatives at entities that can sell Museum tickets. This includes but is not limited to area hotels, attractions, and conciege associations.
- Maximizes the Museum’s relationship with Visit Houston and represents the Museum at tourism conferences and other opportunities that attract group/bulk ticket sales to the Museum.
- Identifies, promotes, and generates sales to new groups, including but not limited to, local organizations, affinity groups, and targeted corporate groups. Supports the Museum’s Corporate Partners program by pro-actively assisting with their employee perks.
- Develops communication strategy for Group Sales emails, and coordinates content, design, and delivery in alignment with a suitable timeline. Manages related online sales content. Coordinates email and web needs with Marketing Department.
- Crafts and coordinates special opportunities, packages, and events for group leaders.Generates contracts, tracks and processes payments, monitors revenue and reports.
- Ensures all inbound calls and emails are responded to in a timely manner.
- Oversees on-site scheduling and arrangements for group visits and tours, including requests for docents via the department of Learning & Interpretation. Sells and prints tickets as needed; acts as point person and greeter for groups to ensure a positive guest experience.
- Manages the day-to-day operations of the Call Center, which sells tickets and memberships, as well as answers questions and assists with online ticket purchases. Grows the call center staff into a group sales support team by training staff to respond to group sales enquiries and bookings. Develops scripts for meeting the needs and answering calls from group leaders, museum members and other callers. Trains call center and Ambassador staff to greet and facilitate groups arriving at the Museum.
- Ensures the Call Center is staffed appropriately and monitors wait times for callers. Reviews the inbound phone system tree and processes, making suggestions and implementing improvements.
- Works closely with the departments of Learning & Interpretation, Development, Security, Special Events, Marketing, the MFA Shop, and the on-site restaurant group to coordinate group visits, tours, and develop packages.
- Provides support to the Guest Services Manager and department as needed, including some opening and closing duties as well as front-line management when required.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal skills and outgoing personality; professional image and demeanor are critical
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to tactfully and courteously deal with a diverse group of direct reports, colleagues, volunteers, members, and the public
- Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing multiple tasks and projects
- Demonstrated interest in one or more of the following fields: public relations, communications, marketing, and sales
- Basic knowledge of art history preferred, interest in art and museums a must
- Must be able to work weekends and evenings as needed
- Some travel, as needed.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum two years experience in a similar sales-driven, goal-oriented role
- Associates or Bachelors degree in a related field preferred OR an equivalent combination of experience and education from which comparable and demonstrable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
- Familiarity with ticketing/POS software or CRM platform
- Comfortable speaking to large groups (formal presentations and informal interaction)
- Fluency in more than one language preferred (Spanish a plus = preferred candidate status)
Compensation:
- This full time, fully benifited position offers a competitive base salary + opportunity for bonus compensation based upon sales successes

Our multifaceted institution includes multiple gallery buildings, a sculpture garden, two art schools, and two house museums for decorative arts. The encyclopedic collection numbers more than 70,000 works of art in a wide range of media.
Work will primarily be performed in an office and museum gallery environments. Physical demands may vary. Work may involve extended sitting and computer use.
