Girl Scouts of Utah is hiring a full-time Retail Sales Associate.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A RETAIL SALES ASSOCIATE
As a Retail Sales Associate, you will perform a variety of retail shop activities, including operating the shop in an organized, efficient, and accurate manner. The Retail Associate will provide exemplary customer services, processing transactions, tracking inventory, and maintaining an attractive and inviting shopping environment. Some of the essential functions of the job include:
- Manages the opening and closing of the retail shop
- Provides excellent customer service and high-quality services to all internal and external customers by portraying a positive image of Girl Scouting
- Works with the CFO to identify trends and to promote and stimulate the sale of Girl Scout merchandise while meeting the needs of girls, parents, adult members, and volunteers
- Creates and maintains appealing displays, promotional signs, and flyers so as to promote and market the council shop to increase annual gross sales and achieve established benchmarks
- Processes customer on-site, email, and mail-order sales and returns; including processing cash, check, credit card payments, and refunds in accordance with council policies and procedures
- Ensure that merchandise orders, receipts, returns, credits, and payment paperwork are completed in a timely manner. Report all delays
- Receives, inspects, counts, accepts inventory deliveries, and barcodes product. Ensures that merchandise orders, receipts, returns, credits, and payment paperwork are completed in a timely manner
- Maintains and monitors inventory and proposes orders for approval to the Finance Specialist. Reports discrepancies such as shipment shortages, backorders, and unauthorized substitutions to both the shipping body and Finance Specialist
- Processes returns to vendors immediately; delivers packages to the appropriate area for mailing
- Assists with preparing, coordinating, counting, and processing annual and special inventories
- Assists with cookie cupboard and cookie sale operations during the annual cookie program
- Maintains a flexible work schedule to rotate coverage of retail operations
- Remains current with technology skills, specifically with the point-of-sale system
- Active participation in the development of environments that foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and access through words, actions, and attitude
- All other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS FOR RETAIL SALES ASSOCIATE
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent, some college or associates degree preferred
- Two years' experience in retail sales
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to edit work for spelling and grammar, present numerical data effectively, and able to read and interpret written information
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills while achieving results in partnership with the desire and ability to work effectively in a team atmosphere
- Computer proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically excel, databases, email, internet, and internet research
- Willingness to work an occasional evening and the second Saturday of the month from September through May of each year.
- Ability to move, lift, stock and carry boxes, furniture, and supplies; must be able to bend down, lift, and carry up to 25 pounds
