The Membership Sales & Partner Relations Director leads the development and growth of the Executive Partner Program at CLIA and is responsible for recruiting new industry business partners and sponsors while delivering a positive experience that engages and retains existing business partners and sponsors for assigned regions/ community segments.
Accountable for Key Performance Indicators (KPI), including incremental revenue growth annually ranging from $2 million plus in membership and $500K plus in sponsorship sales, and a 90% retention level and partner satisfaction.
Essential Job Functions
Sales - 60%
- Build a sustainable membership sales funnel to support the growth of the Executive Partner Membership Program.
- Achieve revenue objectives and net positive recruitment, retention, and sponsorship targets.
Engagement & Internal Collaboration - 40%
- Build and maintain relationships with all new and existing partners and sponsors; promote and provide exceptional attention to top tier partners.
- Oversee the onboarding of new business partners.
- Activate and engage partners through established platforms and planned activities; ensure effective and timely delivery of program benefits.
Internal Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the membership team on strategies that foster member satisfaction and deliver value to partners.
- Collaborate with event team on content delivery and facilitation to ensure a successful program.
- Participate in Membership and Commercial team staff meetings and/or related meetings.
- Prepare weekly status reports, meeting materials including agenda and presentations as appropriate.
- Leverage and optimize use of CRM to effectively manage partner and prospect interactions.
- Contribute to program assessments, refinements and enhancements.
- Support the budget, forecasting and risk analysis process.
- Communicate effectively with all constituents and elevate issues where appropriate.
- May attend relevant industry events and trade shows to promote CLIA, acquire new members and connect with existing partners.
- Keep abreast of industry and market news.
- Travel as and when required.
- Adhere to CLIA’s policies, guidelines and procedures.

Required Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to make oral presentations and effectively communicate the member value proposition in a variety of settings.
- Excellent sales and customer service skills; Strong initiator with a passion for customer service and relationship building; Innate desire to drive results to achieve sales goals. Proven experience in closing a sale.
- Membership recruitment experience preferred.
- Ability to function well under pression; Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient with CRM software such as Aptify, Salesforce; Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, business or related field required; Advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum eight years job-related experience.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work Environment
- This position is based in our DC office as part of a hybrid work environment with 1-2 days in the office and 3-4 days remote.
Required Travel
- Less than 25% travel to attend planned events, key client recruitment pitches or in-person meetings.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
