Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager III, the Staff Services Manager I, Specialist (SSM I, Specialist) will act as an advisor/consultant on exams, statewide exam delivery/modality, and human resources information systems, including ECOS/CalCareers for the ECOS Business Development Team. The incumbent will be responsible for matters related to any/all civil service examinations which includes examination administration, test validation and construction, and application/interpretation of civil service laws and rules. Additionally, the incumbent serves as the project leader on the Examination and Certification Online System (ECOS) Business Development Project and works independently as a high-level business specialist who is a critical component of the business team. The team is responsible for designing and developing ECOS for all selection functions (including advertisement, recruitment, and hiring) for all departments within the State of California. The incumbent will work well under pressure in a self-directed and self-motivated environment.
