The Senior Account Manager of Fresh Pork Sales is responsible for executing the daily sales disappearance plan for all fresh and/or frozen primals. This individual will be managing a book of business that includes both domestic and international customers. Their primary objective is to secure the best return for each sale through evaluating the opportunity versus the next best alternative. This role requires in depth market knowledge and the ability to evaluate profitability real time.
Growth and Customer Dealings
- Responsible for managing the day to day business for their assigned accounts
- Proactively collaborate with Business Unit Managers to align on product availability and pricing on a daily basis.
- Responsible for developing annual trade up strategy as part of budgeting process
- Execute an out front sales strategy that balances available supply and customer strategy
- Issue resolution and communication to customers on any service challenges.
- Responsible for selling the remaining unsold inventory of Fresh Pork products on a daily basis
- Proactively sell and manage to our frozen and distressed inventory targets
- Contribute toward margin growth efforts by hurdling our existing low watermark prices
Sales Execution
- Develop and manage disappearance plan by product family for spot buy opportunities
- Provide direction and approval on daily product allocations and customer communications
- Connect with customers on daily basis to gain understanding of market conditions including competitive intel
- Collaborate with business unit team on market and customer intel and make pricing recommendations to get best value for available product
- Participate in daily team calls to understand product availability, share pricing feedback and provide sales updates on key items
- Develop and execute on daily priority sales plan based on current unsold inventory
- Manage customer specific pricing including formula programs and price lists
- Fill out quality complaint forms and escalating any recurring issues or those that require corrective actions
- Address open deductions and missed pricing credits by identifying root cause and corrective actions
- Issue resolution and communication to internal and external customers on any large scale service level challenges
- Responsible for reviewing sales reports and identifying areas to improve in both volume and margin
- Seen as the fresh pork expert in the market with customers regarding product specs, pricing and markets Administrative
- Supports Fresh Account management team with order entry/order management when needed, input credits and debits when needed by completing new customer set up forms including ship to addresses, pricing sheets, date codes etc.
- Coordinate and align with internal account management team on sales specific opportunities to make a decision based on most favorable outcome
- Evaluate sales specific opportunities based on value, make decision that will drive most value to the business
Experience
Required- 5 year(s): Experience in the pork or protein environment. Ability to work in a fast pace setting, multi-task, sales negotiation skills and an analytical market assessment.
Education
Required- High School or GED or better
