FUNCTIONAL ROLE
The Special Projects Industrial and Commercial Sales Representative is responsible for conducting a wide range of sales and estimating activities in support of the departmental and corporate business plan for Special Projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Outside Sales
- Contact and visit new and existing clients/customers.
- Maintaining existing customer relationships through effective follow-up
- Proactive in reaching new clients and developing relationships.
- Timely follow-up on all visits and potential leads.
- Share IMC goals and quality standards.
- Be knowledgeable in IMC's capabilities and procedures.
- Educate the customer in IMC abilities and capabilities.
- Public relations i.e.: inviting clients/customers to tour IMC facilities, lunch, etc.
- Be active in trade organizations that can provide exposure to IMC.
- Work closely with the Director of Project Management and or Special Projects PM in developing and coordinating client/customer leads, visits, and follow-up.
- Work closely with Director of Project Management and or Special Projects PM to coordinate all site visits requiring site surveys and pricing
- Proficient in HVAC estimating and refrigerant and gas piping takeoff. Plumbing estimating a plus but not required.
- Estimating and bidding all projects per the organization's pricing plan and structure as directed by the General Manager
- Ability to use estimating software
- Proficient use of IMC's customer relations management (CRM) software. Including but not limited to entering information on each visit to client/customer and the contact made, response, potential work, negative responses, and scheduled follow-up.
- Timely follow-up on all emails, phone calls, and bid proposals.
- Performing sales related duties as directed by the Director of Project Management
- Attend weekly sales meeting with the President and estimating team
Estimation
- Represent IMC in pre-bid meetings and pre-bid site inspections.
- Pre-bid site inspection must have the ability to do a thorough assessment of a project that is being negotiated and or bid. Including but not limited to assessing risks, hindrances on production, and understanding of the specific HVAC or hydronic systems or equipment. Ability to provide effective sketches to the estimating team to use in preparing the estimate.
- Work closely with sheet metal and plumbing and piping estimators to ensure the proper scope of work is estimated.
- Backup estimator to large construction estimation team as needed due to illness, vacation, or other short-term
- Represent Interstate at bid openings as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to operate all modern office machines including computer, copy/fax machine etc.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
A minimum of five (5) years' experience in HVAC industry, in addition to, a service sales background.
TECHNOLOGICAL SKILLS
Ability to use telecommunication devices while managing a job. Skills include but are not limited to basic navigation of a smartphone, answering calls and emails, completing daily communication forms, being able to access Interstate's Employee Resources, use certain applications to access field drawings, etc. The types of devices used typically include a smartphone, tablet and/or a laptop.
