Sales Manager - Rock City Coffee Roasters
Sales Manager responsibilities include developing key growth sales strategies, tactics and action plans. Successful execution of these strategies is required to achieve our financial targets. Sales Manager duties will include reaching annual targets for sales of wholesale coffee beans and associated products, building relationships and understanding customer needs.
The Sales Manager is based out of the roastery and will have at least one day on the road meeting with potential new customers and one day on the road checking in on existing customers, making sure they are satisfied. They will also have one to two office days used for strategic planning and meetings with Roastery Manager.
Payment Structure
- Salary: $36,000 annually (full-time)
- $0.625 per mile (logged)
- Sales Commission on new accounts (valid unless or until the sales manager leaves the position): 10% of new accounts after 6 months, paid out in one sum
Requirements
- Demonstrable and successful experience in a sales position
- Ability to drive the sales process from plan to close
- Ability to articulate the distinct aspects of products and services
- Ability to position products against competitors
- Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills
- Highly motivated and target driven
- Relationship management skills and openness to feedback
- Thorough understanding and knowledge coffee and Rock City’s coffee sourcing and production
- Reports to the Roastery Manager
Essential Responsibilities
- Develop with the Roastery Manager a strategic plan of sales targets and achieve or exceed those targets within the assigned territory and accounts
- Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships, striving to understand their needs and objectives
- Stay aware of new businesses opening that might be interested in our products
- Establish, develop and maintain wholesale and customer relationships
- Expedite the resolution of customer problems and complaints to maximize satisfaction
- Coordinate sales efforts with team members and Roastery Manager
- Meet with the Roastery Manager monthly to report on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services
- Seek out different community/private events for networking with potential new wholesale customers
- All employees must download and use the apps “Slack” for communication and “Homebase” for clocking in and out and for viewing work schedules.
Additional Responsibilities
While planning and executing will take up much of the time of the sales manager, it is also important that they understand the production side of the job and will be asked to help in that department, not only to learn how production is handled but also to plan how to best serve our customers through efficiencies.
- Prioritize orders as needed (mail, pickup, Thursday, Friday, and cafe)
- Check on coffee stock, make sure it will be roasted if low or out
- Make bags for roast (split with production)
- Answer the phone
- Print online orders
- Print invoices
- Ship orders and charge credit cards when finished if needed
- Check off call sheet when orders are called in, invoiced, and finished
- Check off delivery sheets when the orders are finished
- Make and keep in stock flavored coffee
- Label bags
- Cut out and laminate bin tags
- Clean work area at the end of day
- Ask for assistance from coworkers as needed
- Communicate with coworkers before ending shift to see if anything is needed
- Cover for the regular delivery driver if they aren’t available
