Local manufacturing firm is seeking a Sales Engineer with experience in machining, welding, stamping or other related metal processing industries. This positions interacts with Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing and Quality Control. This position is responsible for creating accurate quotes within our established system, ensure quotes are submitted in a timely manner and communicate with customers regarding status of quotes and following-up on submitted quotes.

Responsibilities

• Make proper cost estimations, taking into consideration such factors as materials, speeds, type of machine tools required, feeds and control system limitations based on customer drawings, process specifications, and material specifications.
• Getting quotes from suppliers and contractors within a specified time frame
• Manage the overall activities relating to assigned project estimates including coordinating engineering efforts, consulting on design issues, solicit and review subcontractor proposals, review vendor quotes for accuracy, and all other activities associated with providing a complete and detailed estimate.
• Attend pre-production meetings and any other meetings required for assigned project estimates.
• Works with customers and quality team to execute revision changes.
• Ability to identify missing information needed for estimates and effectively communicate that to the appropriate personnel.
• Researching previous performance of past jobs or similar parts by evaluating our job history in our ERP/CRM software
• Work closely with machinists, quality personnel, design engineers, and management to develop successful proposals.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in estimating parts in a machine shop environment, preferred.
• A working knowledge of CAD/CAM software.
• Must have the ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, GD&T, Process specification, Material specification, and work procedures.
• Must be able to function independently with a minimum amount of supervision.
• Interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
• Critical thinking, analytical, and organizational skills
• Minimum of Associates Degree or qualifying experience.
• Pay based on experience. Base salary plus profit share.
