Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Vice President, Global Market Access shapes and executes the North American market access strategy aligned with brand and corporate objectives. They are responsible for trade/channel, field-based payer team, pricing/contracting and patient support services. They will lead the market access team which encompasses payer and trade accounts as well as patient services and build on Mirum’s existing market access objectives and programs to ensure the strategic direction meets Mirum needs and will execute cross-functionally. Geographically, this role will have direct responsibility for North America (United States & Canada) in-line business and global responsibility, which entails both ensuring global market access strategy is fully contemplated & incorporated into pipeline program clinical development plans and for harmonizing market access activities across Mirum Direct & Partner markets for in-line products. They will serve as a member of the Commercial Leadership Team and play a vital role in overall organizational leadership, including management & mentoring of Mirum staff and key external partners.
JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITES
- Develops a market access strategy aligned with Mirum’s commercial goals and ensures a comprehensive tactical plan is deployed to achieve commercial strategic objectives.
- Accountable for Mirum’s commercial pricing strategy and ensures compliant price reporting and payment for Mirum products.
- Enables the key payer accounts and trade team to realize strategic objectives in key accounts including reimbursable pathway goals, quality of access objectives, and net price targets
- Creates market access strategy for Mirum pipeline programs and incorporates into clinical development plans & target product profiles to optimize value proposition.
- Ensures timely payer dossier submissions in the US and Canada aligned with global market access objectives and value messaging.
- Ensures the Mirum Access Plus (MAP) program delivers a timely access journey aligned with key operational goals (turn around time, payer approval rates and refill rates) and provides patient education aligned with our brand objectives and in collaboration with sales & marketing.
- Develop sustainable external communication strategies to support and accelerate market access with respect to label extensions and future products.
- Partners with clinical development, medical affairs, biostats and commercial to develop and execute HEOR plan to support the portfolio value propositions.
- Provide organization Subject Matter expertise within the Market Access areas of responsibility including pharmacy and medical benefits designs, recent legislative changes, Commercial, Medicaid and Medicare (FFS and Managed).
- Achieves established timelines within budget.
- Ensures team engagements are compliant and legal.
- Responsible for team development and optimization of organizational structure.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree, advanced degree (MBA, PharmD, MPH, etc.) preferred. Equivalent experience may be accepted.
- Minimum 15+ years of relevant pharma/biotech work experience.
- 10+ years of experience in commercial roles including market access (payer marketing Payer Accounts and Trade Field Team, Trade and Channel, Pricing and Contracting, and/or Government Payers), marketing, sales, commercial operations. Market access experience in US and International markets. Leadership & management experience.
- Long-term relationships with key payer accounts.
- Experience in orphan products on the pharmacy benefit.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Track record required of building and leading high functioning and collaborative teams.
- Flexible, adaptable, diplomatic, and able to effectively deal with ambiguity.
- Possesses a good blend of strategic and operational experience with the aptitude to see the big picture and strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively present ideas, get buy-in and drive consensus within the commercial organization and across project teams.
- Ability to collect, synthesize, and present data to leadership and across the organization.
- Previous experience working in a commercial collaboration.
- Capability to manage through change.
